[glow=white,1,500]Taelyrn grimaced as he felt his knee being put back together. At this rate, it'd still be quite some time before itt was fully healed, at least an hour, maybe more. He heard a gasp from the girl as she looked around, and turned in time to catch her eyes as her attitude changed. She seemed determined, tightening her fists as though she was preparing for a fight.
Turning back, he took a deep breath. However prepared she might have been, he couldn't be sure she was ready for a fight. It almost looked like she was trying to protect him, but, injured as he was, he could stll fight. If he could get off the ground, that is.
Slowly, almost as a stretch, he extended his wings, sliding them out from beneath his cloak, feeling them solidify into two bright, angular wing shapes. With a stroke of them, he was off the ground, and with a thought, he hovered there. The shift in position and weight caused another flare of pain from his knee, but, thanks to the light focused there, the healing had begun, lessening the pain significantly.
He left his sword in its scabbard at his hip, putting up the hood of his cloak as he hovered a few inches above the floor of the chapel. However much the girl wanted to protect him, he'd be there, be ready, just in case she needed protecting herself.[/glow]

The first bullet hit, made known by the mist of blood that followed it. The second one, however, wasn't as fortunate. The sound of a ricochet shot back to his ears. Something had deflected it. Still observing through the scope, Tobias could see a slight distortion around the targets. They seemed to have a few good tricks up their sleeves.
Suddenly, they both vanished, leaving behind a crater. This wasn't good. Pressing a button on his comm device, a green holoscreen flashed to life before his left eye. One red dot pulsed on the screen, not too far away. At least he knew where the Kuryr woman was. There was no telling if the other target would be with her, but Tobias felt that it was safe to assume so. He mounted his bike again, turning it one eighty before giving the throttle and disappearing.
Weaving between halted cars while coasting, his left eye kept checking back to the holoscreen. As he closed in, the radar screen refreshed, giving a more detailed map, showing only one street, now. The red blip was inside a building. Rounding a corner, he decelerated, pumping the breaks. Eventually, he halted the vehicle in front of a large building, which looked rather important, compared to the surrounding establishments. It was much larger in size, and had a large cross emblem in various spots. Dismounting his transportation, he walked up the small flight of steps, wrapping a hand around the handle of the door. It wouldn't give. Perhaps it was locked. That didn't matter. There were ways around a locked door.
Tobias returned to his still running bike, unstrapping his gun. With one well aimed shot, he forced a slug through the visible keyhole under the door's handle. A the sound of a metal on metal collision, at a high velocity, filled the air as he lowered the rifle. Giving the throttle a small turn, he pointed the bike at the now unlocked door. He changed gears temporarily, putting it in neutral. Walking the vehicle backward, he made as long of a stretch he could between himself and the door.
After throwing it into gear again, Tobias cranked the throttle, sending himself at the building's face. Though he was only using one had to steer, the bike kept to a straight line, flying up the short flight of steps. Clearing the top step, he went airborne, angling the nose of the bike up slightly. Slamming into the front door, the obstacle burst open, allowing him passage into the building. Still in mid air, Tobias shifted his weight, turning the bike ninety degrees before crashing down on the carpeted floor, skidding to a halt. As his inertia halted his advance, he aimed the gun at the two, training more on the winged man, as he seemed more threatening.
Of course, now he knew that the man did not belong in this world. The inhabitants of Earth did not have wings. Still, he was fairly certain that his second target was not Kuryr. If that were the case, his rader would have been tracking two targets, as it was set for locking onto the Kuryr signature. Still he was a threat to this world, simply by being there, and had placed a bounty on his head equal to that of the Kur woman. "If you both come with me now, and cooperate," he addressed, "I will not harm you. However, if you resist, then I assure you, my orders are not to take the Kuryr back alive. As for you, sir, no official orders have been passed. As an unexpected threat, though, I am commanded to deal with you as I see fit."

[glow=white,1,500]Taelyrn spread his right wing, shielding Leyra behind it. He didn't want any conflict with this man, but part of him felt oddly protective of the girl. Besides, he'd brought himself to Earth by teleporting, more or less. If he needed to, he could take himself and the girl to Etrah. Beyond that...well, he hoped things didn't get that far.
He noticed the man's gun pointed at him, and spread his arms, palms open. He wasn't sure what the man was truly capable of, but he had no intentions of getting shot again. Thankfully, without pressure on his knee, the pain was negligible, and his focus was uninterrupted as he placed a shield around the girl, and his back. If the man fired, he could react fast enough to throw up another shield in front, but his back presented a tempting target without some form of protection.
"I think there's been a bit of a misunderstanding, here. I've done nothing against you, and the girl behind me has been in a coma for several days. We've done nothing wrong, as far as I can see. Perhaps you could enlighten us as to what it is we've done?"[/glow]

The chugging of the bike's engine filled the auditorium as the vehicle sat in idle, burning gasoline. Tobias released the handle, moving that hand to the key, and turned the thing off. Dead silence. That's all that hung in the air, aside from the fabric against metal as he dismounted. He slowly walked toward the winged man, holding his gun with both hands, as a rifle should be held, with one hand on the grip, and one supporting the barrel. The muzzle was trained on the wall now. If these people were going to attack based on fear, they would have already. Tobias felt confident enough to be civil with them now.
"I guess there's no point in twisting truths," he began, answering the question posed him, "You see, I'm part of an organization, called the Interdimensional Police Department. Our purpose is to ensure the safety of the multiverse. Now, I know neither of you actually belongs in this world, so I'm going to assume you're following so far. What you may not know, however, is that however you got to this world, the portals made by the Kur woman, or even your own portals, they are dangerous things. If left unchecked, they could mean the destruction of an entire world, with literally no chance at reviving it, short of creating a new one. Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg. I won't go into detail, but your very existence here upsets the balance of the world. At any given moment, this whole dimension could collapse on itself, all because of you. You are not supposed to be here.
That's where I come in. I've orders to capture the Kuryr, and take her back. You are more than welcome to come along as well. I assure you that so long as you abide by our rules, and cooperate, neither of you will be harmed. In fact, with your abilities, there's a good chance you might even be able to be an officer. But, that's another discussion altogether." Tobias paused, staring the man in the eyes from five feet away. He lowered the gun, putting out a hand as a sign of good faith. "That said, will you come with me peacefully?"
(I spent time thinking on how the hell I could make this post longer... I got nothin'.)

(OOC: Right now, not worrying about post length too much. More wanting to keep things moving.)
[glow=white,1,500]Taelyrn lowered his arms to his sides, shaking the man's hand briefly before crossing his arms. It was good that the gun was pointed elsewhere, and even better that there was some discussion, but it didn't sound as if they had too many options before them.
"I, for one, won't be joining you. This was a vacation of sorts for me, and I suppose this is as good a sign as any that I ought to be getting back. As for the girl...well, I won't presume to speak for her."
Glancing over his shoulder, Taelyrn made eye contact with the girl. He raised an eyebrow and gave a small nod towards the man, hoping she understood the silent question: Do you want to go with him?[/glow]

Leyra tensed as the bright one spread his wing in front of her, taking a protective stance. Part of it was just anticipation of a fight, and part of it was mild frustration directed at the bright one. She could take care of herself, whether she looked it or not.
When he and the man with the gun began to talk, however, her frustration turned into surprise. Very rarely had possible fights transitioned so smoothly into talk, at least in her experience. Most times, the words came after the blows and the bullets.
When the bright one (she struggled not to think of him as her bright one) turned to her, her breath caught, before she realized the question he was asking her. Looking over his shoulder at the man with the gun, she wasted no time in stepping closer to her the bright one, hiding her face behind his shoulder, peeking over at the 'officer'. It was a childish gesture, she knew, but she also knew it got her point across, gave her bright one the answer to his question: No. Staying with you.

[glow=white,1,500]Taelyrn nodded, biting his lip as he turned back to the officer, hiding a rather severe blush with his abilities. Part of him was concerned with what her answer meant for him, as he supposed the officer wouldn't take 'no' for an answer, not without a fight. However, another part, one that seemed to be directing his actions more and more, was not only glad, but overjoyed! This was the part that was fueling the blush, as well as an odd giddy feeling somewhere in his chest.
"Well, it seems we've got a slight problem, officer. It seems she doesn't want to go with you, and it's not in my nature to make people do something they don't want to do. But, as you said before, you don't need her alive, and as an 'unexpected threat', I'm basically expendable. Sound about right?"
As he spoke, Taelyrn tightened his fists, hiding the action with his crossed arms. He knew the man was fast. He knew he was a good shot. And he knew he didn't know just how much of either skill he had yet to experience, or what other skills the man might have. They seemed to have numbers on their side, but he wasn't sure what the girl was capable of, or whether the man had any backup.
In the back of his mind, he prepared to take the both of them, himself and the girl, to Etrah. Her eyes wouldn't appreciate the effort, but the damage wouldn't be permanent. He just had to be sure he didn't take the man with them if they needed to escape.[/glow]

In an instant, Tobias was directly behind the two. The barrels of his gun were pressed against the man's left shoulder blade. "You were correct," he said, "You are expendable." A faint click resounded as his fingers tightened both of the triggers, the hammers inside the barrels slowly working their way back. "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough. I was trying to be civil, in posing my orders as questions. Maybe you don't realize it, but neither of you have any rights here. I had hoped to avoid this, but you have left me no choice."
He pulled the top trigger, letting loose a round that, barring something of a miraculous event, would go through and through, punturing a lung along the way. Instantly after the bullet left the chamber, the officer accelerated, vanishing from site. In his own timeframe, he moved his gun, now placing it to the woman's hip. Decelerating, Tobias pulled the second trigger, which would deliver a crippling slug, should the woman not evade. His goal was not to kill them. Not yet. There was still much to be gained, if he could bring them in alive, for questioning.

[glow=white,1,500]As soon as he heard the faint clicking of the guns behind him, Taelyrn sped himself up as much as he believed he could, his body seeming to blur and glow in normal time. Ducking down, he barely dodged the cloud of fire and hot gas that exited the barrel, as well as the slug that would have shot through him if he hadn't moved. He made a mental note to thank his teachers on the Radiant Plane when he had the chance. But first, he and the girl needed to get out of this.
Turning his head, he saw something that should have been impossible: something moving faster than himself. He watched as the man, seemingly unaware of his close call, placed the barrel of his weapon calmly against the hip of the girl. However, the man's speed stopped then, just as he tightened his finger on the trigger.
Taelyrn stopped, forced to watch in slow motion as the trigger was pulled back. The sudden exhalation of smoke from the second barrel of the gun was all he could watch, and he turned, focusing his attention on the man. He couldn't move the girl, because at his speed, moving anything, especially people, might hurt more than the bullet.
However, he had no qualms about hurting the man. In fact, something inside him wanted to, desperately. He couldn't undo whatever damage the bullet would deal to the girl; he'd have to hope she could move out of the worst of it until he could get her out of here. He knew he had no choice, now: he'd take them to Etrah, hide in the Forge until he could figure out a plan.
Before that, however, there was one thing to do, something he was driven more by emotions than logic to do. Tightening his fist, he pulled back, then threw a punch a near-light speeds aimed directly at the man's stomach.[/glow]

Leyra's breath caught in her throat as the man suddenly appeared behind them. She froze, watching helplessly as the man pushed the barrel of the gun into the bright one's shoulder, and pulled the trigger. She closed her eyes as the gunshot sounded...
And kept them closed as her world exploded in a wave of stabbing pain and fire, sending her to the ground. She lay on the ground of the church, bleeding on the carpet of the chapel, letting out a scream of pain. Her bright one was dead, and she wished he would have taken her with him. It would have been better than this.

An explosion of wood tore down one of the rows of pues, ending in a splintered eruption from the back wall. Tobias lay on the grass, disoriented. How did he get outside? Why did his stomach sting so much? Pulling himself up, off the ground, he looked at the building's interior through a massive, jagged hole that he had created with his back. It seemed like that bastard packed quite a punch. Making his way to the new entrance, the officer picked his gun off the ground, as it had been laying amongst the wooden debris. Limping, he crawled back through the hole. Part of him wanted them to run. If they ran, he could get a green light on reinforcements.

[glow=white,1,500]Taelyrn watched, some part of himself deeply satisfied, as the man flew through the church before blowing a hole through the back wall. He smiled grimly, reaching up to his cloak and pulling off one of the white gold discs that seemed to anchor the chain that held it shut. However, as he pulled it away, another identical disc was left in its place.
Flying quickly to the pulpit, Taelyrn placed the disc on top of the Bible that rested on a shelf inside. The view was blocked from the door, and he hoped the disc wouldn't be found. Not until Harry found it, anyway. The disc was enchanted with an illusory message which explained everything, but only to it's intended recipient. This message was meant for only 3 people, and the officer wasn't one of them.
Floating over to the girl, Taelyrn knelt down on his good leg, slowing back down to normal speed. He felt a stab of panic in his chest as he saw the damage done to the girl's hip. If things had gone according to the man's plan, the wound probably would have only crippled the girl. However, the amount of blood on the floor, combined with how pale the girl seemed, even compared to her normal color, indicated that the man's plan no longer applied.
Shaking with anger and an irrational fear, Taelyrn tested his injured knee by placing it on the ground. It still hurt, but it would hold. Breaking his wings apart, he carefully lifted the girl evenly into the air, taking extra care not to make things worse.
Eyes shut tightly, Taelyrn placed a hand over the girl's eyes, shielding them from the brightness of the Radiant Plane as the pair disappeared in a flash, leaving Earth behind.[/glow]

Entering just in time to witness the flash of light, Tobias shielded his eyes. He let out a sigh when it subsided. They were gone. He made his way back to the parked bike, pressing a button on his ear piece. The green screen he'd become so familiar with flashed to life. Apparently, the two fugitives had left this realm entirely. Pressing a second button on the device, a small video feed replaced the radar. A younger woman was on screen, greeting him. "Hello, Anna," he greeted back, "I'm afraid I've lost track of my target. Could you help me relocate?"
"Sure thing," she said, her hands flying over an invisible control surface, "It looks like the Kuryr has run to 37124H. You were just there not too long ago, right?" She paused, reviewing some of the information. "Subsequently, Bruno just deployed there not long ago. He may have gone after the target himself, as their signals seem to be quite close. He may need some assistance, though."
"Thanks. Lock me on to his position. It'd be inconvenient if I came out on the other side of the planet." He held his hand out before him, a blue light flashing a few times as a ripple formed in the air. "Oh, Anna. Before I forget, could I ask you to hold something for me?" Tobias pointed at the bike, and was told that there would be someone there soon to pick it up. Satisfied, he proceeded through the portal, letting it close behind him.
