[glow=brown,2,000]She stepped out of the elevator, continuing down the hall. Some guy in a lab coat stared at her as she passed by, offering a nod in exchange for his gaze. She held a holoreport in her hand, its green glow illuminating her thigh as it passed while she walked. Stopping in front of a door, she waited for it to slide open, revealing the R&D chairman's office.
"Artemis, we've been given a mission. The boss wants us to investigate a dimensional disturbance, located at the address 37124H."[/glow]

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis stepped out from behind a white wall, a glow in his eyes. "Oh, Ariska. I didn't hear you come in." He made his way to his desk, grabbing the holoreprt that had been set there this morning. After reading through it, he set it back down. "So, do you think this one might be the source of this huge mess we've been dealing with lately?" He didn't wait for her to answer.
"Oh! You've got to check this out. I've completed my lastest project." Artemis held his hand out, the cybernetic bangle around the wrist lighting up the neon diodes that covered it. "With this thing, I can break down matter at a subatomic level, basically tearing atoms apart. Then I can put them all back together in the form that I want. Right now, I'm breaking apart the atoms in the air. I'm going to put them back together into something different, say, an apple." A bright flash surrounded the extended hand, but subsided quickly. When it died off, the hand was indeed holding an apple. Artemis pulled it to his mouth and took a bite, just to prove its authenticity.
"Pretty impressive, huh? I call them the Alchemy Bangles."[/glow]

[glow=brown,2,000]Ariska shook her head, sighing. She stepped inside the room, letting the door close behind her. Artemis' office was surprisingly clean today, leaving her to wonder what the occasion was. He mentioned something about the recent dimensional chaos, and how these new coordinates might have something to do with it. "Ma-"
She was cut off, as he began showing of his latest invention. She tuned his scientific drivel out, understanding very little of what Artemis said on a daily basis as it was. It was true, though. There was a recent chaos among the dimensions. It happened so sudden, with rifts opening up by the millions. Normally, rifts weren't such a big issue, only occurring maybe once a week, and being close almost immediately. The things were very dangerous, as most who stumbled upon them were lost to the Non-Plane, the space between dimensions. If this address was the source of the disorder, then the IDPD would have no choice but to collapse it, and let the Non-Plane swallow it whole.
A bright flash took her attention. Artemis now held an apple, and proceeded to take a bite. She offered a forced, and brief applause. "That's great, now let's go." She walked out of the office, sighing as she leaned against the wall opposite the closing door. When will he learn that not everyone is as excited about science as he is?[/glow]

[glow=blue,10,000]He was crushed, watching her leave the room. "Why does my work always go unappreciated? It seems that the only person who ever truly seems impressed is Gyro. Then again, you can't quite take his words at face value." Artemis gave the holoreport one last look. Grabbing his shotgun from its compartment, which was hidden in the wall near his desk, he made his way out the door, continuing past Ariska.
"Well, let's go get our squad," he said, holding the elevator open for her.[/glow]

[glow=brown,2,000]"What?" she questioned, following him into the elevator, "Where did you read about getting a squad? I thought they'd be waiting for us at the destination, like usual." The doors opened again, and she stepped out. Even for the fourty floors that they were up, seven seconds seemed a little long. There must have been something wrong with the elevator.[/glow]

*Greg was racing up the the elevator. He really had to use the rest room but their wasn't one on this floor. Running awkwardly with his knees pulled in close to each other, he had just about reached the doors and pressed the button when the doors opened. He let out a Short exclamation, moving backward and tripping over himself. The ground was unforgiving and he lay sprawled on his back.*

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis followed Ariska out of the elevator, thumbing through the holographic pages that represented the cybernetwork in his new inventions. It looked like they were ready for the final test run, and this mission could be just that. He felt something soft underfoot, but didn't give it a second's notice, figuring that it was probably a towel, left to clean up some sort of spill.
Artemis looked up at Ariska. "Yeah. It seems that this place isn't very well known. We've got records that say we've visited, but they're few and far between, not to mention about all we've got. It's department policy to send out a recon team, and I guess the boss wants us to use our best judgment. There's a few candidates sitting in the conference room. We get to hand pick four of them."[/glow]

[glow=brown,2,000]She began toward the room he'd pointed out. His reasoning for all this nonsense didn't seem very solid, but she didn't see much of a choice. Her only hope was that the candidates were at least somewhat competent.[/glow]

*Greg felt the foot press firmly into his gut*
~ Aw man... that hurtOH Shit!~
*Greg couldn't help it. He peed a little. He quickly gained control and jumped to his feet. One hand, a fist raised in the air. The other. covering the spot on his pants.*
hey! you just stepped on me! like literally stepped on me. What puts you in such a rush that you would just step on someone is laying on the floor?

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis turned around. "Oh, hey. Sorry about that. Didn't see you there." Without too much more conversation, he walked into the conference room. Well, it didn't look too bad. There were certainly more than new recruits in the room.[/glow]

[glow=brown,2,000]Something smelled. Ariska looked over her shoulder, noticing an officer holding a hand over his crotch. "I suggest you find a new pair of pants." She smirked, trying to hold back a bit of laughter. "Then resume your post." Having said her piece, she slipped into the conference room, looking over the officers gathered there.
She looked over the roster of people who would be chosen from. Of the ten on the list, only nine were in the room. "Someone's not here yet, I suggest we wait for..." She scanned the list, as well as the accompanying mugshots, "Greg. Is he here?"[/glow]

*Alex sat slouched in a chair with his hat pulled down over his eyes. When he heard the two others walk into the room he pulled his hat up so he could see, but his posture remained the same. this seemed like an odd way to start a mission, and to be truthful he wasn't even sure if he was on a mission. He was simply told that there was one that was issued and that he was to report to this room.*

*Greg ran to his room and put on a new pair of pants. As he switched out the stuff from his pockets he realized that he had a message on his reciever. It was from about an hour ago. he must have missed it, it wasn't the first time. He fumbled with it a got the message to display. it told him to report to the conference room on the first floor.
"shit, there gonna be pissed, and I was just ther.."
*Greg had a revelation. The conference room was the room that the man that stepped on him and the woman had entered.*
"fuck"
*Greg began running back, dreading what would happen when he got there.*

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis looked over the list in his hands. There were a few capable men in the room, but his first impression was better than the second. The vast majority of these men were nothing but ordinary grunts. "Well, let's start the show without him. If he can't be here on time, then he's probably not any good to us anyway." Looking over the list, he picked out four candidates that he felt would fit the part.
Artemis leaned over and whispered in to Ariska's ear. "I'm leaning toward Juanus and Blake for infantry power, Yuriev for his scouting record, and Sprengning, just in case we run into a few walls that need blowing down."[/glow]

[glow=brown,2,000]Listening to Artemis' picks, she noticed something in the mystery man's bio. "I like your picks, but maybe we should wait until this Greg guy shows up. He's proven himself to be quite the capable marksman. Should we have a need for a sharpshooter, that'd come in handy."[/glow]
