A rift opens high in the sky and something falls from it. A trail of deep red follows behind it. it hits the grass with a thud.
Jay lies in the open field. His body covered in spiraling cuts that wrap around him like crimson snakes. Bumps are visible where the broken bones push against the skin. The nanobots work diligently to repair the internal injuries. Jay's breaths are slow and shallow. The parts he recovered from kive are gone, lost in the rift.

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis walked through the grass, his eyes on the holo screen in his hand. He'd been unsuccessful in obtaining any sort of help from this world's satellites. He had thought that, maybe, there would be some sort of radio towers in the cities. If there were, he could use the radio waves from those to triangulate his position, and create a crude map of his own. It was along the lines of sonar, but a little more tricky. Unfortunately, the readings in his hand weren't so promising.
"Why the hell were we even sent to this world, if there's not even any technology here? I mean, if there's any civilization here anymore, they aren't even close to coming up with dimensional transportation." He was complaining, and didn't even notice the rift opening in the sky.
It was only when he heard the thump of a body slamming into the ground that he looked up, noticing a clearing in the grass. The screen flashed from existence as he rushed toward the hole. Once the bottom was in view, he picked up his pace, crouching down next to the man that lay on the ground. "Hey, are you okay?"[/glow]

Alex Followed behind Artemis and saw the rift as it open as well as the body that fell through. he could see clearly that it was already injured. He cringed ever so slightly when the body crunched on the ground. He saw that Artemis moved quickly to assess it and made no effort to rush himself. He eventually made it over and looked at the mass of flesh.
"I think its dead, or at least should be. We should look into that rift though. generally things don't come out of rifts."

*Jay snaps back into consciousness, aware that he is severly injured and quite possibly being followed closely by Tobias. shortly after doing so the nanobots finished stopping the internal bleeding and decided it was time to flush the excess blood out. Jay began to vomit blood onto the grass. After he finished wreching he sat up, fighting through the fact that every movement burned throughout his whole body. He heard the man address him and looked up without speaking.*

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis jumped back slightly when the guy moved. This was followed by closing his eyes, and turning away as the blood was vomited out. He dug a small device out of his pocket, handing it to Alex. "Alex, go throw this into that rift, it should close it off."
He turned back to the man who'd fallen from the rift. With a sigh, he knelt down again. "You're pretty lucky there, buddy. Not many people can pass through a rift, and survive. And that was before your fall there. Quite the resilient figure you are. Maybe you should join the IDPD once we get you all healed up." He didn't think much about the law of not sharing information about the IDPD, or rifts, or anything concerning that mess. If this guy fell through a rift, he would eventually figure out the existence of other dimensions.[/glow]

*Alex Took the device and threw it effortlessly into the rift wich was quickly destableized and closed. Alex knew that Aremis probably shouldn't be talking so openly to the man, but wasn't about to ay anything to stop him. He knew that the IDPD ocationaly recruted outsiders with special abilities. There was something about this one in particular that pulled a string in the back of his mind.*

Before him, Tobias could see the portal closing. The last thing he wanted was to get trapped. He had to rush, picking up speed as his legs pushed to their limit. Unfortunately, he couldn't use his acceleration in the space between dimensions, as there was no measurement of, well, anything. Normally, the travel would be instantaneous in a portal. But since this was merely a connection between rifts, there was a physical distance to be traveled.
Finally at the edge of the portal, he threw himself through it, curling his body as he braced to roll across a foreign surface. He didn't. Instead, there was the notion of falling. Opening his eyes, Tobias realized that he was falling. He corrected himself in the air and held out his hand, his Quantum device activating. Tobias had instructed it to dial this exact plane, a procedure known as 're-dial' that was meant for situations much like these. He vanished into a ripple in the air, instantly reappearing on the ground.
There was still an impact, but it was nowhere as severe as it would have been. Getting up, the officer brushed himself off. He looked up to notice another IDPD officer. It was Artemis, the R&D Chairman. What was he doing here? Tobias put up a hand, a greeting gesture to the other officer. He didn't notice the one behind him. "Artemis," he said, "I'm looking for a fugitive. His name is Jay, and he's a high priority. You haven't seen anyone around here walking out of rifts, have you?"

*A sales pitch was not exactly what he was expecting and so he is a bit thrown off. even more surprising was Tobias showing up. Although it really shouldn’t have been. regardless jay did not get a word out, he instead simply assessed the situation. he had not said his name yet so maybe they wouldn't immediately realize it was him. No, that’s no good, he was most likely the only person falling out of rifts around here. the fall must have really messes with him, he was normally a much faster thinker. Jay winces as his broken bones are pushed quickly back into place by the nanobots. they would reinforce the bones so they wouldn’t break so easily next time. unfortunately there was only a set number of bots in his system and the more that went to permanent fixes, the less he had swimming around to do quick fixes and prevent sickness. maybe going to the IDPD and getting another does wouldn't be a bad thing, provided they didn't kill him, but they were more diplomatic that that. Usually.

[glow=blue,10,000]What the hell was Tobias doing here? Artemis had instantly recognized the form falling from the closing rift. Was the bastard insane? Jumping through a rift like that? Whatever the case, it was the past, and didn't matter any more.
So, he was following a bounty. That was an excusable reason for the course of action taken. "Well, you just might be in luck," he responded, "We've got a guy here who just fell out of that same rift you came through. He's pretty roughed up, though. Come on over and take a look." Artemis waved his comrade over, speaking as though the man in question was an inanimate object.[/glow]

*Alex reaches into the right front pocket of his jacket and pulls out a small silver sphere. He tosses it next to Jay as he brings out a Matching detonator. *
"I wouldn't advise moving anywhere. Wont kill ya, but it really won't be pleasant either. Your choice in the end."

Tobias complied with Aretmis' demands, make his way next to the other officer. Taking a look at the man on the ground, he nodded. "This is him, alright." He noticed the second officer, finally. The man's name was Alex, if he remembered correctly, a once delinquent. Tobias gave a nod to the second officer, a gesture of greeting. A moment later, he leaned down, lifting Jay up, and supporting the damaged man on his shoulders. "Well, then, I'll just take him to HQ then." Holding a single hand out, Tobias summoned a portal, forming a ripple in the air. "Thanks for your help, guys. I'll make sure Xavier hears about it." With that, he stepped through the ripple, into another world, dragging the fugitive with him.
(Yes, I realize that this is GM. Though, considering the circumstances, I didn't think anyone would mind. If there is any offense, then I can/will edit.)

[Communication From BLAKE to ARTEMIS]: "Sir, This is blake, we have a situation. Corperal deluive has been taken into a military complex. Her weapon was taken. We have compomised their security but are not equiped for a rescue. Requesting instruction on further action. Yuriev is present as well."

[glow=blue,10,000]Artemis took in the message, and the gunfire that followed. Looking at the holoscreen on his hand, he realized a grave truth. Blake was dead. His position beacon had been erased from the radar, which, due to the positioning of the location chips, could only mean the chairman had lost the man. He quickly dialed HQ.
"This is Artemis," he stated, "I'm on assignment in dimension 37124H. We have an officer down, and two being held captive. I am placing their rescue in priority above my mission. I wish to request back up, as I do not know what kind of force we're dealing with. If my request is acknowledged, please lock on to my position, and send the reinforcements directly to me. Artemis out."
The scientist then turned to the officer with him. "We're moving, Sprengning. Be ready for combat." Artemis began running, following the signals on his hand held radar. They didn't have any time to lose.[/glow]

*Alex grinned and followed Artemis. He didn't get a lot of chances to participate in the "front line" part of missions. Alex usually just blows things up in the backround.*
