[glow=brown,2,000]She had followed the 'backup' beast a couple miles out of the city, to a rather expansive field. As much as she wanted to mention it, Ariska just couldn't bring herself to care enough that Greg had been left behind. It was his fault that they'd gotten wrapped up in that whole mess. Then again, no one had told them that they would be dealing with possible military factions. Last intel reported that this world was pretty well empty, only a few colonies of natives left. At this rate, they would have to send multiple teams in, perhaps a lot more than they wanted to spend the resources for. But, that was the point of a recon team, wasn't it?
Team? That was a laugh. There wasn't a team anymore. She and Alex were the only ones who were actually still together. Greg was gone, probably executed for whatever mistake he made after leaving that base. Blake was dead. Yuriev said he was staying in that town to keep an eye on Artemis. And Artemis... That fucking idiot. He was helping the people who had taken her prisoner. Did he forget about their mission? This whole mess was frustrating enough, and now she was being escorted back to Haven by a zombie, only to get reprimanded for letting this shit get too far out of hand. How lovely.[/glow]

Something didn't sit well with the dead man. This was his first time out of the lab, since he went in, and it was just to bring these few people back from an incomplete mission. What utter nonsense! He wanted to test his abilities in a real environment, where things were unpredictable, rather than in a large, empty testing facility, where they told him every move they were going to make. Fortunately, he had picked up on a pursuit. Someone from the human base didn't quite trust them enough to keep to their word. That was the sign of a coward.
The beast halted, putting a hand up to signal his comrades to do the same. "We're being followed. In order to ensure the security of our world, and the secrets of our organization, I'm going to eliminate them. You may want to put a bit of distance between us, as things could get dicey." For the most part, it was a lie. He just wanted to kill something. But, there was some truth to his words. If they allowed this pursuit, they could be followed back to Haven, and unknowingly, let an enemy steal their technology. Either way, he had a reason for fighting. He just gave them the better one.
"You can come down, now," he shouted, aiming a point toward the sky, where a single figure floated, "Come on down, and own up to your cowardice."

Heeding the big man's words, Coryn dropped from the sky, landing with a small thud as he gave one last flap to slow himself, before folding his wings. The others didn't seem like much of a threat at the moment, so his attention was focused on the one that had called him down. "You'll understand that I had to make sure that you left, as you had agreed to do."

"Yeah..." Exodus began, his voice trailing off, "About that. I lied. We're not going anywhere. Missy and the captain have a mission to do, and I rather like not being cooped up in a lab all day. I'm sure you understand." He held out a hand, a light blue glow emanating from the palm. Before a second passed, the behemoth had separated the hydrogen and oxygen molecules in the air, and froze them, creating a meter long icicle, which his fingers wrapped around. "Unfortunately, now that you know this, I can't really let you go back to your buddy, can I?" Without warning, he reared back, and flung the ice spear at the abomination with four wings.

The icicle closed in quickly, whizzing by Coryn's face as he stepped to the side. It would have been fatal, had it hit its mark. Fortunately, this body was quite responsive, and had quick reflexes. It would take more than just that to catch him. "Well, then I believe you understand that I must eliminate you now." Suddenly, he lunged forward, using his wings to grant him more speed. Both blades jutted out suddenly, crossing before him, in an attempt to slice the zombie in two from both sides.

Before the enemy could finish the attack, Exodus halted both blades, and even thought enough to keep the man suspended in the air. "That was cute," he growled, crossing his arms across his chest, "But you see, you can't kill me. No matter how many times you attack me, even if I let you hack me to bits..."
He brought his foot up, giving the abomination a strong kick to the chin. Letting go his telekinetic hold, the kick's transfer of energy sent the opponent upward. Before the four winged one hit the ground, the behemoth grabbed him again, with his many invisible hands, bringing him before his eyes once more. He reared back a fist, and let it rocket forward, colliding with the man's jaw. "I!" Another blow came, in the form of a strong uppercut to the right side of the ribs. "CAN!" A third crashed down, a right hook to the cheek, forcing the head to turn involuntarily. "NOT!" Finally, he grabbed hold of the man's neck, loosing the invisible hold, and suspending the abomination by its neck. Exodus lifted the figure above his head, instantly changing course, and slamming the body back downward, into the ground, where it created a small crater. "DIE!" As soon as the enemy made contact with the ground, he let go, and stepped back, allowing the victim to bounce once before coming to a rest in the pit it had made.

Thankfully, this body was just as durable, as it was quick. Though, the assault still hurt, significantly. As things were, he was finding it difficult to breath, as the wind had been knocked out of him, and that was just on the second blow. It felt like there were broken bones, and probably because they were broken. The zombie certainly made a valid argument. But Coryn refused to believe that there was such a thing as immortal. Even he, who had been given a second life, and then a third chance, knew that there would be an eventual end. Death was inevitable, even if it had to strike twice.
He slowly crawled out of the crater he had made, rising to his feet again. There was no giving in, here, no reason to run away. Coryn was stronger than this beast, and he knew it. But, it seemed the other party needed convincing. He tried to flap his wings, and get airborne, but was only met with a sharp pain. Three of the four wings were bent this way and that, broken in numerous places. Thus areal combat was out of the question. With a grunt, Coryn lunged again, offering a false attack first, stabbing at the zombie's left shoulder before thrusting the second blade, the actual attack, at the sternum.

The memory was a very strong thing. It was what made most people strive to keep living, that they might add to their collection of recollections. As Exodus scanned the man before him, diving deep into his mind, he found not one, but two sets of memories, and the hint of a third, locked away underneath the tangled mess that was too much for this body to have lived. Suddenly, he knew this figure, knew everything about them both, and the collective persona that saw the light of day for only a few days. He pitied that persona, Mathew. The other two had been so selfish, taking his body away from him. Were his tear ducts still working, a small droplet would be rolling down his cheek. How dare they!? How dare they hide him away, this innocent mind.
A hand reached out, finding the gaps in the webs of memories, and grasped the repressed personality by the arm. "You have a right to see the sun again." The hand pulled back, dragging Mathew with it, destroying the frail webs in the process. Exodus made sure that the real master of that body was present, and fully aware. He should be there to witness his own demise.
"Mathew!" the behemoth shouted, "Welcome back. How's the sun look today? It's beautiful, is it not? Those two kept you from it for so long, they wanted to keep the beauty for themselves. How selfish of them!" He placed a hand on the young consciousness' shoulder, closing his eyes, and pressing their foreheads together. "You and I are so similar. We are both labeled abominations. The world will not see us for who we are, but only what we are. For that, I have decided to share the beauty of the sun with you... Allow me to share another beauty with you." His tone lowered into a whisper. "Witness, the beauty that only I have seen, and lived to tell. Embrace death!" Suddenly, another icicle had formed in Exodus' hand, with one end reaching through the abomination's gut, dripping with blood as it exited the other side.
He stepped back, letting go his weapon, and holding his hands out at his sides. "Worry not, my friend, I will not let your death be in vain. Your end will be magnificent!" With the snap of his fingers, dozens more of the ice spears filled the air around him. He threw his arms forward, commanding the ice to follow suit. One by one, they jammed themselves into the four winged body, like pins in a cushion. The young mind's spine arched backward, allowing a few of the icicles impaling his chest to act as a support, keeping him from falling to the ground. In the end, there may have been more ice than body, a wondrous mix of crimson and silver-blue. In the sunlight, Mathew glistened like a newborn star.
"Now go. Be at peace. And let those horrid men bother you no more." Exodus closed his eyes, and bowed his head, wishing the innocent mind safe passage to the next life. When he finished, he turned away. He didn't care where Ariska and Alex had wandered off to. This world made him sick, and he intended to burn it to the ground. There was a city in the distance, far from the range of the sight given him by his eyes. It was a good place to start.

Where was he? How did he get here? The last thing Mathew remembered was being surrounded by Fallen. Now he was standing before a rather large, intimidating man. Why was he in so much pain? What was this guy talking about? Nothing made sense! And just when he felt like screaming out in frustration, a hand was placed on his shoulder. Suddenly, he felt that everything was alright, that it would all make sense soon. Then a painfully cold sensation swept through his abdomen, and it was spreading quickly. Looking down, he was stunned, only capable of staring at the red drops falling from the end of a pointed piece of ice. The big guy said something about his death. He was going to die? Why!? He had only just started to live. It wasn't fair! Why did he have to die?
Before he could question the man, he found himself riddled with pain, a haunting chill devouring his entire body. At first, he fought, trying to move his arms, and pull the ice out. But his efforts were in vain. Before long, he fell limp, letting the cold take over, a final, frosted breath escaping his throat before he faded away, swallowed whole by a frigid darkness. Somehow, it was peaceful, the emptiness. The corners of his mouth turned up slightly as he took his first step into oblivion, never to be seen again.
Hey, Ark... I suppose I should apologize. He didn't seem that powerful at first. I'm sorry.
It's alright. You know just as well as I do, that death is inevitable. Eventually, it comes for everyone. We were lucky to have lived as long as we had. Now, shall we go?
I don't know. It looks awful dark.
You worry too much. We'll be fine. Trust me. C'mon.
H-hey! Don't just run off like that! Wait for me... Ass.
And just like that, three lives were taken from the world, given a head start on the next step in their journey.
(Just stating this now: Exodus is played by myself, so all the terrible GMing done here is, of course, by my permission. Don't do this.)
