Darzul walked into Thoncir General, and approached the front desk. The receptionist looked up at him, and her tired look of reproach instantly was replaced by stunned surprise as she jumped slightly in her chair.
"Oh, hello, Mr. Vorca," she said. "Is there something I can do for you?" she asked nervously.
Darzul smiled at her. "Calm down, darling," he said. "I just need to know where I can find Maku Riskan."
The receptionist seemed calmed by Darzul's demeanor. Her fingers flew across a keyboard, and after a few moments she looked up at him.
"Sir, Maku Riskan was released about six hours ago," she said. "Since his expenses were covered by...well, by you," she continued, "I didn't ask any question." She looked at him. "Has he done something wrong?" she asked.
Darzul looked at the girl, his smile fading and replaced by a look of mild scolding. "No, it's nothing like that," he said. "I just need to talk to him."
"Sorry, Mr. Vorca," the receptionist uttered, a hint of frightened shame in her voice.
"Don't worry about it," Darzul told her, his smile returning. "You didn't do anything wrong. Now I've just gotta find him the old-fashioned way: By looking for him."
Darzul then turned and left the hospital. The next best place to go was back to the base. If he could find private Riskan, it would go a long way toward finding his brother.
