Name: Rifel
Age: 37 (Looks to be in low 20s)
Race: Human, as far as he's concerned.
Physical Description: Rifel's look has changed much over the years. His current style involves his once long, flowing, silver hair being cut short, and spiked. His eyes are a solid blue. Once upon a time, he adorned a trench coat. However, that has been replaced by a white T-shirt. He still wears his simple blue jeans, though.
Bio: Rifel was born in the village of Rerden, and raised by his mother. As far as he knew, he never had a father. His moter never spoke of any men, and he'd never met anyone who would call him son.
At the time, there was a prophecy in Rerden, that a child would be given to them from the Celestial Beings. This child, dubbed The Chosen One, would lead an army of good against the ShadowSpawn, and their vicious rulers. This prophecy brought about notion of hope, as the village was trapped within the Forest of Shadows, and the creatures often wreaked more than havoc.
As luck would have it, this chosen child was born, and raised accordingly. From day one, he was never in harm's reach, and was treated better than even the village nobles. This child was not Rifel. This child grew up to have a very swollen ego, and came to loathe Rifel for what he was born as.
Rifel, due to unknown events, was born with dark abilities, most of which resembled the Shadows' traits. The village, as a whole, came to look down upon him, expecting a day to come when he'd turn against them, and join the ranks of the ShadowSpawn.
There came a day, when the Chosen One had finally had enough of this Heretic child tainting his village. He began poking fun, and attacking Rifel's self esteem. Rifel absorbed most of it, accustomed to the abuse. However, the Chosen One took it a step forward, and a step in the wrong direction.
Push came to shove, and sove turned to fists. The Chosen One began assaulting Rifel, who was given no choice, but to fight back to defend himself. Th fight got very ugly after a while, as Rifel's anger got the best of him, summoning the more destructive of his abilities. He murdered the Chosen One that day.
The villagers, afraid of meeting the same fate, exiled Rifel, sure that they would meet their doom with their precious prophecy broken. He was condemned to wander the Forest of Shadows. Someone must have been watching over the child, as he managed to find a small cottage tucked away within the trees. The cottage belonged to a hermit blacksmith, who was kind enough to take Rifel in.
Rifel stayed there for a few years, learning how to fend for himself. He'd also spent a fair amount of time teaching himself to supress and control his dark half. The hermit was kind enough to forge the adolecent a few weapons before his old age caught up with his heart. He'd left three swords, two identical, slender blades, and one broader, heavier.
After giving the hermit a proper burial, Rifel took the swords, as well as the old man's hunting coat. He also claimed the man's two pistols, as well as a pair of shotguns. With that, he set out for Rerden again, determined to see the mother he'd let behind. He wanted to be well armed, incase he had a death to avenge. It'd been five years since he'd been home. He was now seventeen.
Upon retrning to Rerden, he was shocked. The village was locked in battle with the ShadowSpawn. Rushing to the village's aid, he found himself attacked from both sides. The village militia recognized him, and believed that he'd returned with the shadows. The shdows simply saw another human who stood in the way. Amidst the cargnage, Rifel managed to save a young teen, who'd been cowering near a burning house. It was a struggle, but he ws able to get the boy to safety, some distance away rom the village, before returning to clean up, as well as search for his mother.
Much to his horror, Rifel found his mother, in the process of being beaten to death by what appeared to be an angel. He'd been too late to save her, and now had a target of vengeance. Wtith nothing left in Rerden, he left the village to fend for itself.
He spent three years teaching the boy, who was named Malthius, how to fight. The kid had a natural talent for the art, and was soon able to give Rifel a run for his money. Rifel left Malthius with his shotguns, and the two identical swords, and began his search for the angel who'd taken his last bit of hope. He'd left Malthius a vial of his blood, in the hopes that it would give him some sort of an edge if there came a time when he'd have to fight for his life.
The search took him around the world, out of Old Etrah, and to places he'd never seen before. He' had a few runs wih the angel, who'd called himself Vurkiel, but was never able to claim victory. Along he way, he'd also met a yong couple, who were mercenaries in the Etrahn War. Their names were Kary and Raid. The two had been searching for some place to settle down, and forget about their wartime actions. Rifel suggested the cottage he'd left Malthius to take care of, and even accompanied them there.
Having paid his home, Rerden, one last visit, he was glad to see the village rebuilding itself. He left it behind again, making his way to th Shadow Gate, where Vurkiel said he'd be waiting, and was holding true to his word. A great duel erupted between the two. When it seemed that Rifel had the upper hand, he noticed Malthius sitting by the sidelines. Distracted for a moment, he took a fatal blow, impaled on Vurkiel's sword. The angel didn't bother with the boy, and returned to the Shadow Realm, with other business to tend to. After departing words with the yong man that he regarded as his son, Rifel watched Malthius take up arms against the exiting angel. Then he blacked out.
He was recovered by a man from another world, and nursed back to health. With a debt to pay, Rifel joined the man's organization, the IDPD. During his years in service, Rifel befriended a man by the name of Jay. The two worked on quite a few missions together, and got to know the other's fighting styles quite well.
Rifel took a personal vacation to check up on his home world. He couldn't have picked a better time. Finding Kary, Malthius, and Raid locked in combat with Vurkiel and his ShadowSpawn, Rifel rushed to their aid. The battle was a feirce one, but they eventually won, leaving the angel's body broken and in pieces. Rifel thought it best to keep the Shadow Realm under control, and enstated his three companions as the new rulers. Having took Vurkiel's swrd for his own, he eturned to th IDPD.
Upon his return, certain events lead to his disertion, along with Jay's. This actionforced the two to flee, and seek shelter in many foreign dimensions. Eventually, they made their way back to Riel's home world of Etrah, again, at the perfect time. They witnessed a glorious battle against an evil entity that would later be known to them as Arius. When the tie looked right, they offered their hand, opening door to an artificial dimension, known as the Abyss, sealing this evil entity within it.
Mindset: Rifel is usually quiet, focused, and calm. However, being human, his emotions tend to rule him. Due to his past, the emotion that tends to show the most is anger.
Weapons and Abilities: He still has the abilities that got him exiled, from enhanced senses, agility, and strength, to his shadow abilities, which include his Shadow Drive the manipulation of black lightning, in and of itself lending to other abilities, such as teleportation.
The Shadow Drive is a transformation, of sorts. While there is no physical change, Rifel's ability and averall power increase drasticly. Usually the only signs of this change are the black lightning bolts tracing around his body, and the loss of his pupils and irises.
Rifel also holds the Gaia's Tear. The sword is made of two identical halves, which can be conjoined to form one massive blade, and has immense amounts of power, as its function is to absorb innocent souls that wander the area. These souls offer their power to the Tear in exchange for safe shelter within it.
He also carries two pistols, for ranged combat.
