Name: Leyra
Age: 22
Race: Superpowered Human (Kuryr/Courier)
Dimensions: 5’10”, 130 lbs
Physical Description: Leyra is pale, with waist-length black hair. Her eyes are normally a very dark brown, verging on black. However, when she uses her ability, they change to a glowing red. She is thin for her height, yet she is muscular enough to overpower most average human men.
Bio: At the time of Leyra’s birth, her homeworld, Kur, was undergoing a massive revolution. Some years before, a group of scientists had created a formula to give people superhuman abilities. However, a good deal of the world was resistant to the formula’s creation and availability to the general public, and this was the spark for a worldwide civil war that lasted 7 years.
At the end of the war, the superhuman factions had emerged victorious, and re-structured the governments of the world into a global empire. The world’s technology was such that they soon began spreading their conquest to other worlds, until they had united nearly half of the galaxy under the flag of the Kuryr Empire. However, those in charge of expanding the Empire had, in their conquests, discovered texts describing other dimensions, and were trying to find a way to break the barriers separating them, in order to expand the Empire even further.
Leyra was born and raised during the rise of the Empire to galactic dominance, and lived a normal life until she was around 10 years old. At this time, it was discovered by scouts from the Empire that Leyra was something very rare: a natural-born superhuman, and a powerful one at that. She had the ability to create portals, stable gateways between two points that allowed for near-instantaneous travel from one to the other. The Empire, beginning to plan their interdimensional expansion, took great interest in her, and she was taken into government custody.
Over the next 5 years, Leyra was the subject of many experiments, which resulted in her power being multiplied tenfold. As a result, she could open massive portals, big enough for entire interstellar warships, that could breach the barrier between dimensions. She was the key to the Kuryr Empire’s further expansion, and they used her as such, starting with a world called Argalia.
The Argalians didn’t take kindly to Kuryr rule, and over the next 7 years, an Argalian rebel faction, the Reclaimers, was waging all-out war against the Empire. Leyra was transported to Argalia in case a mass evacuation became necessary, a decision which would have unpredictable consequences.
At this time, an organization known as the IDPD had taken notice of the Kuryr/Argalian conflict, and had decided to act before things destabilized further. After Leyra arrived on Argalia, the IDPD sent assassins in to remove the leaders of both sides of the fight, leaving only Leyra and a Reclaimer called Roland. The IDPD then activated their weapon of last resort, which plunged both the Kuryr and Argalian dimensions into the Non-Plane, where they were destroyed.
However, as a result of an accident with an experimental EMP device and Leyra’s abilities at the time the IDPD device was activated, Leyra and the Reclaimer where both pushed into other dimensions: Roland was taken to Etrah, while Leyra’s powers went haywire, transporting her from one world to another again and again before finally stabilizing. Unfortunately, the result was an unconscious Leyra, some distance above the ground on a planet called Earth.
Mindset: As a result of the government experiments performed upon her, Leyra is massively distrustful of intelligent life as a whole. However, in the unlikely event that someone should gain her trust, that trust is nigh-impossible to break. She is generally very quiet, speaking only when necessary. She does open up to those few she trusts, but even then, she is by no means a talkative person.
ABILITIES/EQUIPMENT
Power Restraints: As part of the experiments performed on her, Leyra is outfitted with a pair of heavy metal bands that cuff her wrists. The bands are about 2 inches wide, and each has a single chain link dangling from it. They are made of a material that hampers superhuman ability, and in Leyra’s case, normally restricts her ability to jump between dimensions.
Portals: Leyra has the ability to connect any two points in space with portals. These are stable gateways that remain open as long as she desires, and allow for instantaneous travel between the two points. Should something be caught in the portal itself while it is closed, it is cut cleanly along the line where it passed through. Without her Power Restraints active, Leyra is powerful enough to transport massive warships across entire dimensions, but doing this too often causes massive mental and physical stress.
Second Sight: Leyra is, in Etrahn terms, a Level 1 Perciever, gifted with Second Sight. This allows her to see spiritual beings when in a dreamlike state.
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Leyra is an able fighter in hand-to-hand, but this is mostly instinctive and improvised. She is skilled enough to take out an untrained opponent, but anyone with basic martial arts training could surpass her.
Heightened Physical Attributes: Leyra is slightly stronger than the average adult human male, as well as being highly dexterous and acrobatic. The combination of these allows for parkour-style movements in battle, which helps make up for her lack of skill in direct combat.
