[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana woke up with a shot, and looked down at her abdomen. She had just felt her water break. She turned and shook Visignis vigorously, arousing him from his slumber.
"Visignis, honey, wake up, I have to go," she told him.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis groaned as he felt a warm liquid pooling beneath him. He heard Viviana tell him to wake up, that she had to go.
Well you can't have to go much more, he thought to himself in his first instant of consciousness. I know the twins are pushing against your bladder, but come on. Use the damn bathroom-
The next instant, it clicked. Visignis realized what was really happening, and it was much more important - and, quite frankly, made a lot more sense - than a bladder control issue.
With a flick of his hand, the covers were thrown from the bed, and Visignis leapt up and began to dress himself. "Okay, almost ready," he told her, pulling on clothes with his flesh-and-blood hand while his flaming one grabbed items from the closet, pulling them toward him. Within a minute, he was fully dressed. "Alright, let's get you ready," he said, helping Viviana to her feet.[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana shook Visignis' hand from her arm. "Get off me, I'm fine," she told him. "I may be pregnant, but I can still dress myself. You go find us a ride. And I mean in a vehicle, I don't want your father teleporting us there. I don't think it's good for the babies."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis could only sigh. He had been arguing with Viviana about this for weeks, but she absolutely wasn't having it - ever since that IDPD guy mentioned excessive teleporting could weaken the plane, Viviana had flatly insisted that she not teleport until the babies arrived.
Fortunately, Visignis had begun to make arrangements once he knew the undisputed fastest method was out of the question. The plane he was about to call in was fast - obscenely fast, in fact, it traveled at mach 3 - and it could land and take off like a helicopter, almost unprecedented for private aircraft. But then again, the people he was calling could scarcely be called the private sector.
He picked up a radio transmitter and entered a code using the number keys on the top of the set, and simply spoke "Patis Karibos."
He then turned and looked at Viviana. "Alright, Viv, I just called for a ride. There's a plane on the way, it should be here in just a few minutes. Once it arrives, it can get us to Thoncir General in about an hour and a half. Can you make it that long?"[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana nodded. "Yeah," she said. "I haven't felt any contractions yet, so I think I'll be okay for an hour and a half."
She then heard the distinctive wail of turbines grow louder, then quieter. She looked at Visignis. "Honey, when you said you called a plane, and that it would be here in a few minutes, did you mean to an airstrip within a short drive?"[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]"Not exactly," Visignis said with a smile. "Now come on, let's get you to the hospital."
Visignis walked down the stairs with Viviana, and as the two walked outside the front door, a large jet, easily 100 feet long, was parked on the front lawn. Visignis saw the pilot in the cockpit, who gave a nod. Visignis returned the gesture.
A staircase leading to the passenger area had been lowered, and an elderly man stood at attention, wearing a tuxedo with a forest green handkerchief protruding from the front pocket.
"Ras Tensis Marnas," Visignis told the man in the tuxedo.[/glow] "Sul Cutos Loren," the man replied, before embracing Visignis. "It's good to see you again, Your Luminance."
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis laughed. "Edgar Barrister," he said. "I barely recognized you. Of course, last time I saw you, you were a teenager."[/glow] "Yeah, and you were absolutely furious that my father brought me to that Gathering," Edgar said. "You said I wasn't ready. Maybe you were right, but either way, fifty years makes a lot of difference. I was made acting Prime Radiance, until we heard you were still alive." Edgar grinned. "It is good to see you again, Visignis."
[glow=orange,1,600]"You too," Visignis replied. "But let's go. We can wax nostalgic during the flight."[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana walked downstairs and outside with Visignis, and was astonished to see a Pulsar V/STOL jet parked on her own front lawn. When she had died, this plane was a pipe dream, thought impossible to ever make functional, let alone cost-effective.
She then saw the symbol near the cockpit - a forest green orb atop a trapezoid, a symbol meant to signify an orb of light illuminating a path. No way, she thought to herself, but even as she stood in disbelief she realized just how plausible it was.
She heard Visignis greet the old man in a tuxedo in what sounded like Jildish, an ancient language that people only used nowadays to give scientific names to animals. The two discussed a Gathering of some sort, and the man called Visignis 'Your Luminance'. Even though it was painfully obvious, she had to ask.
"Visignis..." she started, then paused, unsure how best to ask. As usual, Viviana decided on the direct approach. "Is this a Manelore Pulsar? Are you a bigwig in the society or something?"[/glow]

"Techincally, it's a Quasar," Edgar told her. "The Pulsar hasn't been in production since '99, but the Quasar is based off of it-"
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis raised a hand, and Edgar immediately fell silent. "Listen, Viv, now that we're married, there are a few things we're gonna have to discuss - and yes, Manelore is among them. But I also need to be debriefed on some of the major occurences since you and I have been out of the game."
"Edgar's gonna fill me in on the plane," Visignis continued, "and you're more than welcome to listen in. But any questions you have, I'd really rather deal with after Victor and Valerie have been delivered. Does that sound fair enough?"[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]"Fine," Viviana said through clenched teeth. She was having her first contraction, and she was ready to get going, regardless of whatever the two boys were gonna do while in the air. "But if the conversation turns too dark, I reserve the right to go somewhere calm and quiet, and I expect you to fill me in once the kids are born."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis looked at Edgar. "Is there gonna be a place that's calm and quiet if my wife requires it?" he asked.[/glow]
Edgar nodded, smiling thinly. "There's a spa in the back. If she wants, she can soak in a bath the entire flight."
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis laughed. "You guys put a spa in the jet? Impressive." Visignis then took Viviana's hand, and led her up the stairs.
"Until we're in the air and up to cruising speed, you'll have to be buckled in," he told her. He then looked at Edgar. "Get this thing in the air, would you, Edgar? And radio ahead to Thoncir General, let them know we're coming."
As Edgar discussed take-off and flight protocols over the radio with the pilot, Visignis held Viviana's hand. Soon the plane was in the air, and before long it was soaring toward Thoncir at triple the speed of sound.[/glow]
