[glow=orange,1,600]The jet approached Thoncir General Hospital 98 minutes after boarding. An orderly was standing by, the turbines on the Quasar causing him to cover his face.
Visignis walked Viviana down the stairs. "We're here," he said. "Safe and sound."[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]"Yeah, about as safe and sound as we'll ever be, according to Edgar." She looked at the orderly. "Now for the fun part," Viviana said as she stepped off the plane.[/glow] "How far apart are your contractions?" the orderly asked her as they walked toward the hospital, the jet growing quieter as the engines shut down.
[glow=purple,1,800]"About 8 minutes," Viviana told him.[/glow] "Okay, that's fine," the orderly replied. "Let's get you to maternity."
[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana nodded. "Okay, let's do it," she said, following him into the hospital.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]"I'll be right there, babe," Visignis said. He sat down with Edgar, to confirm a few things. "So the entire Oledian Royal Family is dead?" Visignis asked.[/glow] "Along with 90% of the population," Edgar replied. "The disease is called canine meningitis. Weaponized by the Reyone Union in the war, but it never worked when they actually tried to use it. It mutated in the Reyone Field, but apparently whoever was taking care of you during the war must have gotten the vaccine to you."
[glow=orange,1,600]"And when the monarchy collapsed, so did the Ceton," Visignis said.[/glow] "Yeah, the Reyo became the premier currency on the planet, for a little while, at least," Edgar told him. "But the Reyone Union went under after their supersoldier project went public-"
[glow=orange,1,600]"The one that gave that Vorca guy superpowers, the dude that runs the militia around here," Visignis interjected.[/glow] "Well, at his point they are pretty close to being a legitimate army, but yeah, that's the program," Edgar said. "The Union fell apart. Military tried a dictatorship, that didn't last for long, either."
[glow=orange,1,600]"And that's why we created and distributed the Coin," Visignis concluded.[/glow] "Using those scrolls you left the mages before your coma, we were able to enchant our mints, make the Coins impossible to counterfeit." Edgar smiled. "And, of course, we made sure your assets were converted to Reyos when the Ceton took a shit, and then to Coins when the Reyo fell through."
[glow=orange,1,600]"So there's no central government, for either continent, and Reyone - sorry, Old Etrah - is more than half dark forest filled with shadow demons. Thoncir is run by a militia, the City is run by a gang, the only accepted currency comes from Manelore mints, and they dumped all the dead bodies from the war into the northern bay between the Appeak Mountains and the Kryll Forest."[/glow] Edgar sighed. "Yeah, that about sums it up."
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis shook his head. "Well, it could be worse, I suppose," he said. "Though not a whole lot worse," he grudgingly added.[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana sat down on the hospital bed, looking at Toshi Green, who was toying with some equipment.[/glow] "Good news, Viviana," Green told her. "Both of your babies are perfectly healthy. How far apart are your contractions?"
[glow=purple,1,800]"About 7 minutes, now," she said. [/glow] Green smiled. "Normally, I'd say it's not time to get started. But if your labor moves at quadruple speed like the rest of your pregnancy did, this could be happening very soon."
[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana winced. "Another one's coming," she said. Seeming to refuse to groan in pain by sheer force of will, she only allowed a few whimpers of pain to escape her mouth as the contraction came, then passed. "Okay, the last one was 6 minutes ago," she said.[/glow] Green nodded. "Alright, let's get started," he said. "Do you want an epidural? Childbirth is extremely painful."
[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana grinned confidently. "I think I'll be okay. Just get Visignis in here."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]"So have you guys been contacted by the IDPD yet?" Visignis asked Edgar.[/glow] "By who?" Edgar replied, puzzled.
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis smiled. "Never mind," he said.[/glow] "Sir, are you Visignis?" a nurse asked, approaching the pair. "They sent me out here looking for a man with a red right hand...but that's not quite what I had in mind," she said, glancing at Visignis' hand of tranquil flame.
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis laughed. "Don't worry, it's harmless," Visignis told her. "Is Viviana in labor?"[/glow] The nurse stole another glance at Visignis' hand, then nodded. "Her contractions are 6 minutes apart. Labor's definitely beginning."
[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis nodded. "Alright, let's go," he said, following the nurse into the room where Viviana lay. She looked very uncomfortable, and seemed to be sweating a fair amount.
"Hey, honey," he said, immediately taking her hand. "How you doing? You want them to give you a shot, help with the pain?"[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana smiled at Visignis. "Babe, I've literally been cut in half," she told him. "I think I can deal with this. Besides, I thought nephilim childbirth wasn't supposed to be nearly as painful. If the rest of the pregnancy is any indication, it'll be about one-quarter as bad as for the average woman."[/glow] "If you're sure, Viviana," Green chimed in, "but one quarter of what I've been assured is the worst pain ever is still pretty damn uncomfortable. And our window is closing, you're almost fully dilated already."
[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana shook her head. "I'll be alright. I don't want Victor and Valerie to be drugged up the first time they see the world." She then squeezed Visignis' hand as another contraction began, and labor got into full swing.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]After about 4 and a half hours, Visignis nearly glowed with pride as he held his infant son, Victor. Viviana cradled Valerie in the hospital bed, exhausted from labor.
"Look at them," he said, unable to do anything but marvel at his children. One oddity he noticed was that both children had complete heterochromia, mirror images of each other. He looked at Victor, and saw that his son's right eye was the same shade of crimson as his father, while his left eye was the purple hue of his mother's eyes. Valerie was the opposite, her right eye purple and her left eye crimson. Visignis knew this condition was extremely rare in humans, though he couldn't be sure about angels or nephilim.
Regardless, Visignis was reminded of a story his mother had told him about his youth - how his grandfather, having not held a baby in decades prior to his own birth, held a newborn Visignis by his shoulders, allowing his head to topple backward. Instead of injuring the boy, Visignis simply picked up his head and giggled - something unheard of in a baby mere hours after being born.
He moved his hand slightly down Victor's head, allowing his son's head to tilt back slightly. Victor, like his father before him, picked up his head and looked at his father before starting to softly cry.[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana shook her head in frustration as Visignis tested his son. He had told her the story, and she had hoped he wouldn't try it with his own son. However, a smile sneaked across her face, seeing that Victor was also not thrilled about it, probably getting startled when his head tilted backward.
She continued to cradle Viviana, who cooed softly. She noticed that both of the twins had been born with hair, and a fair amount of it. Victor's was the same deep black as his father, while Valerie had inherited the deep red hair of her grandmother. She smiled at Valerie, whose eyes, one purple and one crimson, were starting to flutter as her daughter fell asleep.
She looked over at Visignis and Victor, and saw that her newborn son had calmed down. He also fell asleep, and a pair of nurses came by to take the twins to the nursery. Having worn herself out more than Visignis' tales of nephilim birth had led her to expect, Viviana also decided to take a nap. Her own eyes shut and she was asleep almost immediately.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis sank into a chair not long after Viviana had fallen asleep, and grabbed a few hours' sleep of his own. The hospital wouldn't release Viviana or the twins until the next morning anyway, so visignia decided to get some rest.
The next morning, Visignis walked out of the hospital door, opening the door with his left hand while his right hand, which he had grown to triple its size, cradled Valerie. Viviana was pushed out of the hospital in a wheelchair, also hospital protocol, holding Victor. The two boarded the Quasar and closed it up, settling in as the jet rose into the air, then began the flight back toward the mansion - the home of their new family.[/glow]
