Mordecai was walking around Thoncir following a map a mysterious man gave him. He had expressed interest in joining the military here and was given a map to the base. Eventually he found the base and was escorted in and led to the recruiting center and walked right up with the escort. Mordecai was dressed in his old Vietnam uniform and looked around and took in everything and relishing in the moment at finally being back where he rightfully belonged. He had a small smile on his face as he entered the recruiting center. He stood at attention as he waited to be talked to about recruiting.

Desiree Remta looked up, and was confused. The man before her was standing at attention, in what looked like a dress uniform, but it certainly wasn't Vorcan. It didn't look like an old Reyonite or OIA uniform, either, but it certainly had a military feel about it.
"Welcome to the Vorcan Army," she said, standing out of her chair. "My name is Desiree Remta. I understand you've expressed an interest in joining, and I'm sure we can find a place for you. What's your name?"

Mordecai saw the lady look at him and he continued to look forward and at attention. He was a bit taken back because of the female presence even in a recruiting office. He had heard what she had said and waited for her to finish. "Sir, or Ma'am my name is Mordecai Mason and i do express my interest in your military, sir" He said in a voice that boomed in the office as he used to do back in his old unit.

Remta looked at Mordecai, a look of amused annoyance on her face. "In the Vorcan Army, 'sir' is fine, even when addressing a female soldier."
"Take a seat," Remta said as she returned to her own chair. "You'll need to fill this out," she said, handing Mason a form asking for his name, height, and weight, among other basic information.
"If you don't mind my asking," she chimed in shortly thereafter, "it looks like you're here in some kind of uniform. But it doesn't look familiar. Have you served in the past?"

Mordecai took a seat and went into a relaxed state and nodded at her statement on the addressing a female soldier. He moved closer to the desk and took the piece of paper and a pen and started to fill out the information.
Height 6'6", Name Mordecai Mason, Weight 250 lbs, No hair, blue eyes, and all the other information that he needed to add to it.
Sir I served for a military service from a different realm and was in service when i fell into an inter-dimensional portal dropping me in the middle of this continent about 2 weeks ago and have been surviving and looking for something military wise and ended up coming here and seeing you, sir.
He told her and signed the form and looked over at her to see what else she was interested in asking about because he was not shy about any of his experiences. He sat there straightening his uniform.

Remta browsed the form. Everything seemed good to go. She looked up at Mordecai.
"Everything seems good. You'll still have to go through basic, but we might be able to fast-track it for you since the training you previously received will probably coincide with ours a lot. The one exception is probably RMMA, but we can deal with that. What did you do in the military before you made it here?"

Mordecai waited and took a look around. He had been around long enough to know that this realm was nothing like the one he had been in. He didn't care as long as he could be part of something like this. He listened to her as she talked about everything being OK and he nodded in compliance to the first part and took a deep breath knowing that what he revealed here would not get back to the other realm as it was classified what he did, but where he was didn't matter.
Sir i was a military sniper. I was also a tactical demolitions expert known for controlling enemy movements. I was also part of a covert group of individuals who would solve problems for our superiors without people finding out about it. He added and sat there waiting for what she had to say next. He figured basic here would be the same as anywhere else so he wasn't worried about anything being too difficult at least at the moment.

Remta smiled. "I'm sure the general will be happy to hear that," she told Mordecai. "We're short on snipers. But I have to admit, our long-range rifles aren't the best. We have very few, and the ones we have are hard to maintain and find ammo for."
She shook her head. "Sorry, didn't mean to ramble. The next round of basic starts in 2 days. The private here will take you to the armory to get you your new clothes. If you want, you can stay here. If not, feel free to explore Thoncir for a while. But basic starts at 0500 the day after tomorrow, in that field," she said, pointing toward the field near the command center. Be there."

Mordecai's smile widened when she had mentioned that they were short on snipers and their weapons weren't the best and difficult to upkeep. He continued to listen to where and when they needed to meet and what time. Well i will stay here if that's all right. He stood up and walked out with the private and went to the armory. He picked up his stuff and was led to a small barracks to where he would be staying. He got all of his stuff sorted and in orderly fashion. Once that was done he sat down at a desk and started to sketch in a book a design for a gun that he was interested in pitching to somebody at some point knowing that this army wasn't not properly equipped for anything distance wise. He spent most of his waking time sketching a blue print to a sniper that the army back in his time had been developing but never put into action at that point.www.barrett.net/images/firearms/99float.jpg

Sergeant Relas walked through the recruit barracks. A place where the new recruits with nowhere else to go stayed, it was often filled with the dregs. This time was no exception. Many of them were here simply because there was nowhere else for them to go.
Several of them had the shakes or the bugs, sweating out whatever drug they had gotten hooked on. Others were brooding, treating this place like it was a pre-war prison, trying to exude intimidation. Relas could tell that there would be a brawl, and it would be up to him to stop it. Being the one who dealt with the rookies was a pain in the ass.
But there was one guy who was different. He was just sitting quietly, sketching what looked like a rifle. He was totally focused, possessing a discipline that he frankly wasn't supposed to have yet. This might be that Mason guy, Relas thought to himself. The one who was supposed to have traveled through time or some shit like that.
"Hey," Relas said, approaching the man as he sketched. "Interesting," he mentioned, pointing at the drawing. "What's it supposed to be?"

Mordecai did pay attention to his surroundings and the others that stayed here. He didn't talk to anyone and he had nothing of importance to anyone so no one messed with him. He put the finishing touches on the blueprint and could feel also that something was gonna happen. He had absolutely no idea that somebody other than recruits was here. He heard somebody walking up behind him. He looked back when somebody inquired on his sketch. He realized that it was a sergeant. He stood up quickly and stood at attention.
Sir that is a sketch of a sniper rifle that was being developed before i came here He told him trying to make a good impression. He had already changed into Vorcan uniform. He stood there waiting for him to respond with anything.

Relas smiled. He was already referring to his superiors as 'sir', and apparently when he'd come to this dimension he'd brought some knowledge of a prototype sniper rifle with him. Major Tyber would definitely be interested in this.
"Fuck you!"
Relas turned around and saw the first punch fly. One of the self-proclaimed thugs, with a bleach-blond mohawk, had just punched an olive-skinned man. A splash of blood and a tooth lay on the floor nearby.
As the druggies began to panic and flee, a handful of other recruits joined the fracas. Relas sighed and cracked his knuckles. Before diving into the fight, he turned to look at Mordecai. "Hey, man, do me a favor and don't get involved." He then took a step, then stopped again. "Or at least, if you do, hit them and not me." Relas then began shouting for the group to stop their fight. When they faied to listen, as Relas assumed they would, he dove in.

It had been a very long time since he'd been hit. Luckily he remembered the feeling well enough to turn with the punch. The hit was solid, enough force remaining behind the fist to knock a tooth out, but the turn kept the blow from breaking his jaw.
The problem had started when he'd walked in. He'd left his usual attire with the prophetess for safekeeping, leaving him with few clothes of his own. After enlisting, he'd spent a few days getting to know Thoncir and its people better, picking up outfits on the cheap with what coin he had on him.
Now, with less than 48 hours before basic training began, he'd returned to base, what possessions he dared to keep with him on Vorca's territory occupying a beat-up duffel bag. After arriving on-base, he'd headed straight for the barracks where the other new recruits were staying, and upon entering, he'd made the mistake of dropping his bag on the first empty bunk he could find.
This hadn't sat well with his assailant, who had apparently taken quite a liking to the cot, and objected to a stranger claiming his territory. Shin gave the man credit, in that he had alerted Shin to his intentions. However, what might once have been a well-stated point was twisted by the pains of withdrawal into an angry bellow, followed by a wild right hook.
Straightening after the hit, Shin saw the crowd in the barracks seperate into two groups; those who fled to keep out of trouble, and those who jumped at the chance for a fight. He saw a man in uniform leaving one of the other recruits at a desk, and head straight for the brawl. He noted that the officer wasn't wasting time with words, instead cracking his knuckles and readying himself to deal with the crowd in a way they'd understand.
Shin took advantage of the disturbance, striking out quickly at his assailant as the other man was distracted by the yells and aggression filling the air. One hand struck flat-palmed on the man's temple; the other chopped sharply at the base of the man's neck. It had been some years since he'd needed to strike at pressure points, but his only desire was to delay the man long enough to slip back outside without further incident.

Mordecai had listened to the Sergeant that had just talked to him and he felt that if he intervened for the good that might help his situation.
So he nodded to the fact to avoid the Sergeant and went for one of the other guys that was distracted by walking up behind him and quickly wrapping his small but strong arms around the mans neck. He slowly started to squeeze hoping he had the power to at least take one of the guys out.
This was not his specialty but he did know his way around hand to hand combat. He started to apply pressure.

In the short time it had taken Relas to shout his lone warning and walk across the room, the fight had escalated by about 6 people. He never even noticed the swift and decisive blow by the victim of the first punch, nor the first aggressor drop to the ground immediately thereafter.
Instead, Relas got started on pacifying those who still stood. As he assumed his stance and began to glide toward the brawl, he analyzed the situation and saw two pleasant things: First, that the sniper sketch artist had intervened on his behalf, and second, at least one man who could be neutralized right away. A short but stocky man held another guy in a headlock, throwing wild punches at the top of his victim's head.
Relas quickly fired a powerful jab at the base of the stocky man's skull, causing his legs to wobble before he slowly but gracelessly toppled to the floor. He then grabbed the man who had been in a headlock by the hair and smashed his knee into the man's mouth, causing his head to snap backward before he fell to his knees, crumpling into the fetal position as he clutched his now-bleeding mouth and wailed in furious pain.
