[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis landed outside the Forge doors. The first thing he noticed was the statue of Taelyrn. He read the inscription below, and several of his questions were answered by that simple epitaph.
He opened the Forge doors, a task that seemed to be growing easier. He walked inside to find Pyrodeus.
"Father, I'm back," he said. "I read the inscription on Taelyrn's statue. Is Baalaose really dead? Is Taelyrn?"[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus turned to see Visignis. He looked a bit paler, and he was carrying one of his hands, but considering the loss of said hand he seemed to be doing very well. Pyrodeus couldn't help but smile, until Visignis inquired about Taelyrn and Baalaose.
"It's true," Pyrodeus said. "Messanger, after stopping the bleeding on your wound, came back to continue the battle with Baalaose. Damian managed to blow a hole near the creature's heart, and Messanger donned a holy gauntlet and struck it from his chest."
He sighed. "The heart held a type of crystal, the source of Baalaose's power. Even without a body, it continued to pull power, perhaps more efficiently than before. Taelyrn nobly sacrificed himself to destroy it once and for all. It was a foolish gambit, to set off a soul bomb comprised of all of his power, but it worked. The damage was too much, too fast. Baalaose's heart was destroyed."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis nodded. He then looked at what remained of his right forearm, both below his elbow and in his hand. Until now he hadn't noticed the black plasma stuck to his arm.
"Messanger did save my life out there," Visignis said to himself. He then looked at his bracer. At his will, a seam and hinges appeared. The bracer popped open, falling from his elbow nub and his severed hand.
"Father, I would like to borrow your smithing hammer," Visignis said. "I need to repair the bracer."[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus smiled. "Give it here, son," he said. "I'll have this thing in one piece again in no time."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]"No," Visignis said, respectfully but firmly. "I can repair it myself. Besides," he said with a sly smile, "I think I can make a few subtle improvements on the old design."[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus smiled. "Very well," he said, the smithing hammer appearing in his hand. He handed it to his son. "Forgive the expression, but if you need a hand let me know."[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis shook his head. "I think I'll be okay," he said.
Ducking into the Forge, Visignis placed one half of the bracer next to the other, the seam where it had been severed now together again. With beams of heat from his eyes, he filled the crack with molten metal. A few taps with the hammer made a smooth line, but one solid piece. Visignis was then inspired.
Using the same technique, he carved five identical lines into the bracer, leaving six sections. Within the section nearest his elbow was his father's seal.
Visignis ground the top of the hammer into his father's seal, and when he pulled it away he had created his own; where there had once been a flame with angel's wings, there was now a flame in front of crossed revolvers.
Visignis set the bracer on its side, pouring lava into it until it was filled. He then struck the top of the bracer with the hammer, causing the lava level to recede as though it were draining out of the bracer. In reality it was draining into it, imbuing the bracer itself with more fire energy.
Visignis opened the bracer and set his elbow nub inside of it. It snapped shut, giving Visignis a right forearm once more, albeit an artificial one.
To accompany the artificial forearm, the bracer quickly formed an artificial hand of pure fire to replace the one Visignis had lost.
"Now to see if it worked the way it was meant to," Visignis said to himself. He reached out with his right hand. When it had reached its limit, the section closest to Visignis' elbow stayed in place. However, the other five extended an equal distance from each other, extending Visignis' reach. Swirling flames filled the spaces between the bracer sections, and the hand remained. If anything, it looked like it might have grown a bit.
Visignis walked out of the Forge, Pyrodeus' smithing hammer in his right hand. "Here you go," he said, reaching his hand all the way to his father 25 feet away.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus was totally stunned.
Not only had his son repaired the bracer, he had modified it to give him a new hand. He had also increased the functionality of the bracer itself, and given himself a whole new level of options for fighting.
"I don't know what to say," he uttered after a while. "I'm amazed, Visignis. Your skill is much greater than I gave you credit for. Coupled with what's clearly a creative mind, you get something like that."
He smiled. "I'm proud of you, son."[/glow]
