To be honest, I was hoping this post would never come. Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that things have sort of gotten out of hand. Mostly, I'm referring to the amount of power there is without consequence, and this is directed in general, as we all have those characters. In other words, there are a lot of characters who, as they are presented, would have absolutely no problem taking on a million people, and not even suffering a scratch. Contrary to popular belief, this is a problem.
For one, if everyone is ridiculously powerful, that makes it very hard for character development to take place. It also sets that bar much higher for new characters. How can people join and have fun when they would technically die from a single punch. Of course, there's also the growth rate for ability. From here on out, getting from mortal to completely untouchable will take a very, very long time. Making the change overnight is uncool, and unfair. Yes, this means that Magres X is closed, unless you clear it with an admin first, which will be a very difficult task. I'm not saying you can't attempt it, but keep in mind, that we will keep a very close eye on your progress...
As for character creation and ability level, I'm not saying everyone has to start out pathetic. Where's the fun in that? But please, do not make every character perfect. Also, don't go overboard with the level of power. As for the characters already created, I'm not going to require everyone to dock themselves, but I will ask that you be mindful of how much power you're displaying.
The second announcment is simply to clarify godmodding. Mostly, it applies to attacking and defending, but it also applies in other aspects of things. For example, if your character witnesses an explosion, you cannot say that it threw someone else against the wall. In short, try your best to not tell other people what their character is doing. Grabbing them is fine, so long as that's all it is. Things such as placing a hand on a shoulder, is fine. As for throwing, it's alright, but you may not tell what happens after the character leaves your hands. Though, that said, do not abuse the action.
Another thing I would like to clarify, for everyone, is the concept of an NPC. An NPC is not just a person with the ability to godmod. In fact, that little ability will be kept to an utmost minimum, and used only if needed to. NPCs are merely tools of the admins, pivotal characters that are there to help push the plot along.
One last thing: I would like to address a fact of concept. It seems that people are seeing this as a sort of game, where the players are just waiting for the admin to throw the next big baddie their way. That isn't quite the case. This is more of a story, where everyone has their own path, influence, and directive. It will not always come down to a massive scale battle with two clearly drawn sides. There is a lot of grey area.
Now that I've said all this, I will leave on the following note. I have been neglecting my psoition as admin, which is more than just making new boards, and generating ideas. That said, I will be reassuming all of those duties. I apologize if I come across as a huge dick, but I would like to ensure that the other guy has just as much fun as you do. Also, please don't get pissed at me for things I might bring up, and events that might occur via the new 'Events' board. If you really do have an issue with something I've done or said, then you can send me a message, or talk to me in some other private fashion. Just be warned, you must be calm, and willing to see things from all angles. If you're just going to yell, and not even try to accept a point of view other than your own, then I will simply ignore you.
