(Yeah, it's about time I got my ass in gear.)
Mathew:
Age: Looks 17
Race: Angel/Demon
Appearance: He wears only a pair of black pants, and they're torn at that. Sprouting from his bare back are two sets of feathered wings. From the shoulder blades is a white pair, the other, black pair, comes from the lower back. The wings are thinner than usual, allowing for both sets to be used at once. His eyes, too, are different colors. One is pure black, while the other has a blue iris. Mathew's hair is a deep, navy blue, spiked forward in front, and short elsewhere.
Bio: Mathew does not have much history as himself, as he is the result of a resurrection gone both horribly wrong, and horribly right. Two entities share the body, their names: ArkAngel and Coryn.
ArkAngel: He was born as simply Ark. Being born of an angelic mother and a human father, Ark was born flawed, capable of emotions such as hate and jealousy. Due to this fact, He was cast from Heaven at the age of five. In his time on Etrah, he was taken by a family in Reyone. He bacame very close friends with the child of the family, Coryn, whom he'd eventually come to call a brother.
When Ark turned 18, he joined the Etrahn War, a massive war predating the Arius conflict by roughly fourty years. During his time in the military, and his skill on the field, Ark had become known as ArkAngel, as most humans thought he was an Arch Angel among them. The two main forces were Reyone, trying to expand its borders past Old Etrah, and the country of Oledia, who essentially controled everything except Old Etrah. Oledia's capital was the city that only they knew the name of, and due to the results of the war, died with them. After the war, Reyone had succeeded in expanding its borders into the Oledian territory, in the process, detroying their enemy completely. However, the absolute victory was not without sacrifice. The people of Reyone revolted in protest against the war, only to get mowed down by the military. All that was left of the war was ten percent of the world's population.
After the war, Ark took on a personal quest to find his father. After finding him in the city of Thoncir, Ark was overjoyed. That didn't last long, as an angelic assassin, known as Jaxyl, had been given orders to kill the mortal man. Ark made a stand against the assassin, defending his father, but nearly at the cost of his own life.
A woman had found his comatose body, patched it up, and nursed him back to health. After repaying her by planting her a garden, and tending it for a year, Ark set off to find his father again. History repeated itself, as he did, and was interrupted by Jaxyl again, only to be nursed back to health a second time. This time, he realized that he'd grown attatched to the woman, falling for her. However, he knew that it would be for the best if he didn't. This second time, Ark stayed with her for two years before continuing his search.
The third time he'd found his father, he'd actually learned a little about the man before the assassin showed up. In a last stand on the Reyone Bridge, Ark had taken enough damage to kill a normal man, twice over, and still managed to stand. However, that was the most he could do. As jaxy was about to deliver the final blow, completely forgetting about Ark's father for the moment, Coryn seemed to appear from nowhere, saving the half mortal mutt.
In the end, though Ark's battle was for baught, as his father succumbed to a stroke a few days later. Being torn by this, Ark, accompanied by his human friend, decided to go to the only solace he had known, the woman doctor. Much to his horror, he'd found a letter from Jaxyl pinned to her skull with a knife. It took a few years to recover from both tragedies.
Having stayed with Coryn for those few years, the two had developed a routine of keeping in top physical form by sparring twice a week. During one of these matches, a squad of demons ambushed them. The two stood their ground for a fair amount of time, but not long enough. The demons had been impressed by the human's abilities, and dragged Coryn off, leaving Ark completely defeated, with nothing, and no one left to turn to.
Determined not to ascociate with others ever again, Ark took shelter in Coryn's house, in the Kryll Forest, and stayed there until Arius pulled him out again. In combating Arius' forces, he found Coryn again, but his friend didn't remember him, attacking relentlessly. After a fair number of fights, Coryn took Ark's life. Ark's body changed into a blue dust, which was inhaled by the now demon Coryn.
Coryn: Coryn was born like any human, and led a boring life until his family took in an angelic foster child, who he'd quickly come to know as a brother. The angel child's name was Ark. When he was 19, he joined the Reyone military with Ark.
After the war, when his angelic brother set off for something of a personal quest, Coryn stayed with the military, slowly climbing the ladder until he was general. He'd taken on a wife in the process, who'd eventually given birth to his daughter. When she was born, Coryn retired from the military, deciding it was more important to spend time with his family, and raise his daughter Rhia.
After the girl had become a woman, and moved on with a life of her own, Coryn left a considerable amount of money for his wife, and set out to find his brother. In his searching, he built himself a small cottage in Kryll forest, not having enough money to stay in a hotel every night. Also, being nearly fifty, he wasn't able to fight as well as he used to.
After a long while, Coryn wanted to check on his wife and daughter, making his way back to Reyone. While crossing the bridge, he'd finally found Ark again, but another angel putting his life in serious danger. Coryn expended a massive amount of energy, but forced the angel over the railings, and into the strong current of the Gourin Strait. He took Ark with him to meet his wife, caring for him for a number of years, and in the process, deveolpoing a sort of sparring schedule with his brother.
During one session, they were ambushed by demons, who'd eventually beaten them both down to the point where they could drag Coryn back to Hell. Upon reawakenning, Coryn remembered nothing, and felt nothing. He still appeared human, except the black wings protruding from his back. He spent years serving as one of Hell's most revered generals. Until, that was, he met a rodent by the name of Arius.
Serving under Arius, Coryn helped conquer all of the underworld, both Hell and Second Hell, in his new master's name. In the process, he was pitted against Ark many times. During the last fight, he'd finally managed to extinguish the his former brother's flame of life, breathing in the blue dust that he'd turned into.
Upon inhaling the dust, Coryn regained his full memory, enraged at Arius for forcing him to kill his brother. He chased his former master down, engaging in a very brief fight, losing his life in a single strike. As Coryn lay on the ground, one of Ark's allies tried to resurrect him.
Mathew: During the resurrection process, Ark's soul had been transfered by the blue dust, and his being embedded into Coryn's body, changing it to accomidate both of them. The new being, constructed from both the half angel Ark, and the demon Coryn, was known as Mathew. Mathew engaged Arius in the final battle, beating him down with an intense will from two souls to kill him, though acting with a single mind, that knew of neither of them.
Weapons: He has Ark's sword embedded into one arm, and Coryn's into the other. Ark's sword is a white, rectangular blade, with an intricate design of wings etched into it. Coryn's blade, that from when he was a demon general, is jagged, and jet black, seperating into two symetrical blades that can be opened and closed like a pair of scissors.
