The following are the rules, and do not follow any particular order:
.) No GodModding. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's just what it sounds like. Things that fall under this category are being invincible, automatically hitting another player's character, dodging every attack thrown at you, and taking control of a character that isn't yours. Also, automatically killing people is off limits. If a character is to die, the person controlling them will make the post themselves.
.) NPCs may GodMod. NPCs are special characters set up by the admins. The fact that they are an NPC will be stated in their name. Only admins may set up an NPC. Also, please note that as far as NPC GMing goes, we will only use it on other NPCs, or if we have explicit permission. We will not ask for permission, so if it is given, it's because the member asked for it.
.) Watch your tongue a little. I realize that most people here are adults, or at least close to being so. I'm not saying that we should all censor ourselves. We like to pride ourselves on creative freedom. So, while you are allowed to use any words you want, we ask that you refrain from cursing every other word. There's nothing cool about that.
.) Everything MUST be original. Basically this means that we will not allow you to play a character ripped off from a movie, anime, game, etc. We would like to enforce creativity. Taking something that someone else already made is not creative. Now, if you have a character that is similar to something already out there, then you're in the clear. However, there is a line between similarity and blatant ripping off. This does not necessarily apply to abilities. If you want an ability that someone else already has, then no one's going to stop you. Just don't copy and paste.
.) No making assumptions about other characters. If your character knows another character before meeting them in the story, then you'd better clear it up with the other person involved first.
.) Be creative with your character. This cannot be stressed enough. Basically, this means the find a character that you really enjoy, or maybe something that you want to try. We do not want every character and their brother to be an orphan who watched their parents' brutal deaths, or a runaway, who had to get freedom. When you make you character, please, be creative. Also, when giving the appearance, we will not accept pictures unless you drew them yourself. We will also accept pictures taht others have drawn for you. If, for whatever reason, you MUST have a picture, we will only treat it as a guideline, and not your actual character.
.) Characters must be approved. Before you start posting, you must receive the okay to do so from an admin. This is mostly to ensure that you followed the rules previously stated for characters. It is also to ensure a good experience for everyone involved. If your character is not approved, an admin will make suggestions, and work with you until you both see something you like.
.) This is not a story for weak stomachs and faint hearts. There will be blood, there will be guts, there will be death. User discretion is advised. That said, though, please keep it to a moderation. No on wants to read a four hour long, super descriptive post about someone getting disemboweled.
.) Shit happens. We don't always like what happens to us, and the world is not perfect. If your character is put in a situation that you don't like, then you'll simply have to deal with it. There is no Dues Ex Machina to make the hurt just go away.
.) The following rule applies to combat with a non-player character (NPC), IE: the Shadowspawn in the Forest of Shadows, of a group of Fallen Angels or Demons. You may control any NPCs in the combat, save for those who have their own account. You may have them attack another character, so long as you do not have them automatically succeed. For example: 1 and 2 are walking through the woods, and get ambushed by a group of demons. 1 may see a demon trying to stab 2 in the back, but may not tell whether or not the stab connects. 2 can then react. Beware of throwing too much at another player, however, as they can throw it back. I suppose this can also be used outside of combat, but combat is where it would seem to be most prevelent. Remember, only non-player characters, who do not have an account, can be used in this way.
.) Please, try and keep to one thread at a time. The RP is very story heavy, and keeping a character to one thread keeps things from getting chronologically confusing.
.) You are allowed to have as many characters as you wish. However, you must be able to keep track of them all. Also, please do not double up characters on a profile unless they are always in the exact same spot at the exact same time. If you wish to make another character, we ask that you make a new profile on the site for them. This helps avoid confusion. Also, keep in mind that the new character will still need approval before use.
.) The admins are exempt from most rules listed above. Don't worry, though, as we will keep ourselves in check, and not go overboard with power.
.) Please remain active. If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, please let us know. If we have your permission, then one of use will take control of the character in your absence. Otherwise, we will ask that you quickly find a way to remove the character from the story temporarily. If you have been inactive for more than a week, without having that arrangement, and your character is vital to a plot line, we will start issuing warnings. The first will be an email, asking you to come back. After another week has gone by, then we will send another email telling you of the consequences of being absent. After a third week has passed, we will take your character from you, and forcefully remove them from the story. If you have not returned within two months, we will issue you another warning via email, from which you have a week to claim your character before they are killed off.
.) Breaking of the rules will result in a few warnings, followed by temporary removal of character from story, and suspension, and finally a ban and character death.
.) Have fun. These rules are not meant to scare anyone, nor make us seem too controlling. They are simply precautionary, to ensure that everyone enjoys their time here.
If you have any other questions, regarding the rules and regulations, please send me a PM, and I will be more than happy to oblige.
One last thing!
All of this RP, from the plot to the setting, is copyrighted. If there is any ripping off, there will be consequences. If you wish to take our concepts or ideas, please PM one of the admins (Myself, Damian, or Pyrodeus) with a brief summary of what you would like to borrow, and for what purpose, and we will take it from there. We'd really prefer if you didn't though.
