Darzul chuckled at Ariska's comment. "If you kill me in a dream you'd better wake up and apologize," he said, taking her sword. Once Coryn and Ariska were both inside, he closed the door. A lock slammed home as soon as the door closed.
A major ran up to Darzul, a forlorn look on his face. Darzul could tell by the man's tone of voice and body language that the news wasn't good.
"Colonel, we have an estimate of the source of the fire," he said. "The enemy is from 400 to 500 yards out, southeast of the base." The major then paused. "The incoming caused three casualties," he said. "Captains Trenton, Jackson, and Terros were all found deceased on the roof."
Darzul was taken aback. His face showed his concern and sadness. The melancholy quickly passed, replaced by fierce but controlled anger. "Have their bodies retrieved as soon as it's safe, Major," Darzul told him. "Send out the chopper and make two passes, one with the Pyrodeus, one with rockets. Then send a strike team, and make damn sure they are armored. I want the men who killed the captains, alive if possible."
"Yes, sir," the major said, immediately turning around, running through the door he came in and barking orders.
Darzul turned to Ariska, then to Coryn. "If all goes as planned, we'll be able to end the lockdown within about 5 minutes," he said.

[glow=brown,2,000]She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms. Truth be told, she didn't have much to say. They'd been stupid enough to open fire, without provocation, on a recon mission, and deserved whatever this man was throwing at them. Five minutes was too long to be standing around, doing nothing.[/glow]
From his outlook, Yuriev simply monitored. He'd head the command to bring in the artillery, and didn't want to get caught in the crossfire of vengeance and stupidity.

[glow=white,5,600]Coryn observed the soldiers in the room with him. Half looked scared, the other half angry. He knew how that felt. His time during the war brought many such times to he and his battalion. Turning to Darzul, he put out a hand, for lack of a better gesture. "You said you were with the Reyone Army," he began, "Mind if I ask where you were stationed? Or were you part of the advance, during the war?"[/glow]

Major Edwards climbed into the cockpit of the helicopter armed with two pods of 10 rockets apiece, and the R-56 Pyrodeus nose-mounted cannon. Capable of rates of fire as high as 5,000 rounds a minute, a chip within the weapon's mechanized firing system restricted it to a 'measly' 2,000 rounds a minute.
Edwards put on a radio headset, and took off with the chopper, flying toward the estimated site of the incoming.
The chopper covered 300 yards quite swiftly. About 120 yards or so out were two men, wearing body armor. One of them held what appeared to be a sniper rifle.
Edwards scowled at them. They had killed two of his best friends, Jackson and Terros. Edwards hadn't known Trenton as well, but he did know the man had a family.
"Colonel Vorca wanted them alive, if possible," Edwards said to himself. His resolve then hardened. "But, he also said two passes."
Squeezing the trigger on the joystick, the six barrels on the Pyrodeus began to rotate, picking up speed. Within a few seconds the cannon was spitting lead. Edwards passed the chopper over the two men.

Darzul looked at Coryn. "I did travel with the advance, but I wasn't actually on the front lines. My time was divided pretty equally between teaching RMMA to foot soldiers and determining strategic choke points for ambushing the Oledians."
"One of the better ones was in and around Thoncir, so I actually spent a lot of my time in this area. Probably why I decided to set up shop here once the war ended and those slimy bastards gave me my dishonorable," Darzul added bitterly.
"I never did ask what your name was. Who are you, and did you serve in the war too?"

*Greg Saw the helicopter as it took off and headed toward them. He quickly fired two shots. one at the head of the driver through the windshield, hoping doubtfully that it would not be bullet proof, and one at the tail blades. As bullets started to hit the ground in front of Greg and Blake Greg drops the gun and stands up, beginning to turn around. Blake does not even get that far. He braces his hands against the ground and starts to pull himself upwards a single bullet passes through his head and he drops back down with a limp thud. Greg barely gets a quarter of the way around when a bullet passes through the front of his right hip. another glances across his left arm, creating am impressive spray, but not doing much damage really. A third and final bullet hits him in his right calf. The leg was Greg's current load barring and so he quickly lost footing and fell to the ground. He lays there breathing heavily and remaining relatively still.*

Major Edwards' windshield cracked badly as a bullet hit it, spiderwebs reaching outward from the point of impact. He then felt control of the chopper falter as the tail rotor took a round.
"Mayday, mayday," Edwards shouted into the headset. "Shots fired, bird compromised. One target killed on contact, second target wounded. Strike team approved, negative on air support. I gotta take this bird home."
Edwards then flew the chopper back to base, wobbling the entire flight. He made an awkard landing, shearing off what remained of the tail rotor which also tore the driver's side back door off of an SUV. He quickly ran into the compound.

[glow=white,5,600]Coryn put out a hand. "I knew the name sounded familiar. I had a few comrades that learned RMMA from you," he said, "General Coryn Heite. I was on the front lines, taking part in most of the major battles, as part of the first battalion, as was Ark. He's in here too, somewhere." He held a hand to his chest. "Though, Ark served his time, then went on with his own, personal agenda, after the war was over. I stuck around for a few years, though, just to make sure there wouldn't be an uprising. I retired General at fifty." He suddenly remembered that he looked far from that age. "Forgive my appearance, things have been... Complicated, recently."[/glow]

Darzul listened to General Heite's story, dumbfounded. "Wow," was all he can say. "Nice to see you in good health, general," Darzul said, shaking Coryn's hand as he smiled. "I hope my students served well."
He leaned closer. "You were a general when the shit hit the fan," he whispered. "I've got a lot of questions for you when things quiet down."
"Colonel, I was sent to report," a captain said, saluting Darzul crisply.
"Let's hear it, captain," Darzul said, lazily saluting him back.
"Major Edwards just returned, sir. The bird got shot up some, but the major's fine. He reported Corporal Flynn KIA at his post by the gate. One hostile was killed by the first pass, the other was injured. Edwards approved the strike team, they're assembled, equipped, and ready to move."
Darzul nodded. "Move 'em out. Take the APC if it's running. I want the second man brought here alive."
Darzul then closed the gap between the captain and himself. "And I want him treated humanely," he said, his face deadly serious. "It's not your team's job to punish the man. It's mine. The hostile is wounded and it will take minimal force to capture him. If you 'rough him up', I will rough you up."

Captain Apek nodded. "Yes, sir," he replied, turning and leaving for the garage. He ran through the base, jumping into the APC.
"Okay, Vorca just gave the green light," Apek told his armored team as they piled into the troop carrier. "We go in, we go hot. But we don't open fire unless fired upon. Detain him, don't kill him, or Vorca's gonna have our ass." He heard the APC engine turn over. "Let's move!"
"Oorah!" the team shouted in unison, the APC driving out of the base. The carrier bounced violently as it approached Greg's position, and the team quickly poured out.
"Drop your weapon!" Captain Apek roared, the team surrounding him. "Don't move! Cooperate and we won't harm you."

*Greg's breathing sped up as the men shouted at him. He really wasn't sure what to do. His Greiss was already dropped and the M44 was held with a shoulder strap.*
"I cant really comply with that one. my...my gun is strapped on and seeing as I'm lying on the ground its hard to remove. ill be glad to do whatever else you like."
*Tears started to form in the corners of his eyes. He was so frightened that he would do damn near anything the men said and would not complain at all about being taken back to base.*

Apek motioned upward with his rifle. "On your feet," he said. "Slowly," he added. "Take your other weapon off, slowly, and set it on the ground."

Greg tried to stand but he was unable to with his leg and hip shot walking was out of the question. his combat suit did its job in keeping the entry and exit wounds small and prevented the shot to his calf from exploding out of his shin, but he was still pretty much down for the count.
"Well actually, about that. The whole standing up thing isn't going to work. Ill take off the gun but that is as far as I can go."
*Greg slowly reached up with his right arm and pulled the strap of his M44 off and pushed it to the side. a hand gun still remained in a side pocket of the combat suit. the was hidden by the shape of the suit so as to be harder to detect. he figured he was in enough trouble to justify the risk of leaving it on and getting caught.*
"I'm all yours. Be gentle."

Captain Apek grabbed Greg under the arm, helping hold him up. "Get in," he growled, ushering him toward the APC.
"Corporal, get his weapons," Apek barked. A corporal quickly slung his Carbine over his shoulder and picked up the two guns, both unfamiliar to him. He guessed they were a sniper rifle an an assault rifle, but beyond that he had no idea.
Once Greg had been brought inside the APC and the team had entered as well, the hatch closed, locking with a heavy clang. The APC then headed back to headquarters, and once inside the team began to vacate the vehicle.
Apek pointe at two men. "You two, help him into the base." The men quickly obliged, helping Greg walk inside.
Captain Apek and the men carrying Greg entered the room where Darzul, Ariska, and Coryn stood. Apek casually waved his hand, and the two men let Greg slump to the floor.
"We found the assailant, Colonel," Apek reported as another man stepped forward with the two guns. "He was armed with these," Apek continued as the soldier set the weapons on a table.

*Greg limped along with the men and as he was lead into the building he ave a shy wave and nervous grin to Ariska. he knew he was in a shitload of trouble but at least he wouldnt die. He was confident she would want to have to put another member dieing fight next to her on her report. He simply stood and waited for whatever they decided to throw at him.*
