Leyra took a seat in her chair after the man sat down. As he asked his questions, she listened, then answered, her voice soft.
"I am." "No." "I am called Leyra."

*The man listened carefully as she spoke.*
"hmm, you said they call you Leyra, which is obviously the truth, but is that your real name? Your birth name.

Leyra hesitated as the man questioned her further. After a moment of thought, Leyra answered.
"If I ever had another name, I don't remember it. I have been called only Leyra for as long as I can remember."
This much was true: she didn't remember her name. She'd been taken from her family at a young age, and years of government experimentation and indoctrination had taken its toll on her early memories.

"That is an interesting way to answer as well. Are you not sure about your name? Please tell me about your earliest memory, and if you could a bit about your childhood. Anything that may be considered "outside of the norm".

Leyra nodded at the man's request. Closing her eyes, she concentrated, thinking back as far as she could remember. As she did, one wall of the room turned opaque, before filling with a series of images, some vividly clear, others blurred to the point of being unrecognizable. After a moment, one of the images took priority over the others, growing to nearly fill the wall.
"I was young...still a child, by our measure. An animal had entered our home, something that did not belong there. I remember that it flew, and its cries made my head hurt...I was scared. My father tried to capture it, to take it outside...but he couldn't get close enough before it would try and attack him. I wanted it gone, out of our home, anywhere...and then it was."
On the wall, the larger image flashed, showing pictures of a young girl with black hair, a small building, a strange flying creature, an older man, sharp teeth. Then, abruptly, the image went black. Around the edges of the black, a flickering outline of orange, then blue, was visible.
Leyra opened her eyes, the wall changing back to solid stone. She sighed softly. "I was told that was the first time I used my ability. Apparently, the creature was later found inside the home of a family nearby, one I was not fond of."
"My name is Leyra...remembering back that far, I know that is certain. Shortly after that happening, I was taken from my family. I never saw them again."

*Bill Slimed as he watched the images on the wall. This patiant was extreamly open. That would give her point toward being maked as non-threatening. His smile seemed to fill the entire room with a sort of euforia.*
"Did you ever use this power again? tell me about when you did. were did they take you?"

Leyra felt uneasy as the man's euphoria filled the space. However, if she wanted him out of her mind, and wanted to survive, she didn't have much choice but to cooperate.
"The government took me, experimented on me. They told me I could have gone anywhere on the planet when they started. By the time they were satisfied, they had used my abilities to start a war with another world. I was a tool for them. My only option was to do what they wanted, or die."
This message came not in spoken words, but through another flashing series of images. Words were sprinkled throughout the pictures, but only to clarify where some points might have been unclear.

*Bill took a deep breath and held it for a moment before letting out a rough sigh.*
"you were part of the war, that is not good, but I know you are a good person. The nice thing about talking here is that no one else can hear us. If anyone in charge hears that you were part of that war, it will be a life sentance... if your lucky. I want to help you but I cant guarentee anything. you can't know this or they will probably find out. Are you willing to what it takes to get out of here? its not easy.

Leyra shuddered as the man sighed. That meant bad news. His words proved her assumption. But what would it take to get out of here? Would she be able to do it? Could she-
A sudden bright flash illuminated the room from outside, followed by several others. The light caused her to gasp, as well as serving as a reminder of why she was here...and who else was here, too. The bright one...Taelyrn...
With a deep breath, Leyra steadied herself, looking the man straight in the eye. "Whatever it takes. I'll do whatever it takes to get out of here."

"What I need to do is erase your memories. Anything about the war must be gone. now unfortunately I cannot just make them go away, I must physically destroy them in here. this will be painful and emotional since you must say good bye to each of your memories and then feel them being broken or torn apart. if you are ready, sit back, try to relax and start reliving your life. everything about your home world must also be lost. I am sorry."

Leyra sat still for a long moment, struggling to process what he'd told her. As she did, however, she felt a bittersweet mix of emotions. There were happy memories, to be sure. The story with the flying creature, for example. However, shortly after that, anything she took the time to remember made her re-think doing so ever again. Her life had been hell, thanks to those in charge of her world. Now, they were gone, and the only revenge she could take was to forget they ever existed.
Part of her mourned the loss of those few precious memories...while the rest of her awaited the freedom that losing the rest would give her. Not freedom from this prison, although she'd welcome it if it came. No, it was the freedom from fear, from pain, from self-inflicted isolation that she wished for, and could now almost feel.
Looking up at him slowly, she nodded. Without her realizing it, the armchair changed into a lounge chair, more of a bed than a seat. She lay back, closing her eyes. She thought back to the story with the flying creature, then went as far back as she could before that.
Oh well...at least I'll forget the good ones first...forget what it is I'm so scared of losing...

*The wall changed to show the memory with perfect clarity. Bill stood up and and a large sledge hammer appeared in his hand as he shook his head. he really wasn't looking forward to it. The mind holds onto its memories tightly and the process of getting rid of them is not very delicate. He takes a quick step toward the wall and swings the sledgehammer sideways into the center of the image. It hits and the picture shatters and falls to the floor like a broken mirror, melting and disappearing as it settles. The air fills with a buzzing static that you could almost feel on your skin and an ear splitting Screech like a banshee scraping her nails across an endless chalk board. The noise fades after about a half a minute or so. Bill speaks with little emotion*

Leyra cried out as the memory shattered, her chair and the scenery of the entire room rippling with the trauma. She felt sick to her stomach, and more depressed than she had ever been. The worst feeling, however, was that of senseless loss, as though she'd lost something tremendously important, but could no longer think of what it had been.
Without realizing it, she fell to her knees, the chair she'd been sitting in fading into wisps of smoke and shadow before flying to the walls, re-stabilizing her mindscape, at least for the moment. A hand covered her mouth as she struggled with the nausea, her breath coming in shallow gasps as a cold sweat sprang out on her forehead.
She kneeled for a moment more, calming her stomach as best she could before nodding her head at the man's words. The next memory appeared on the now-repaired wall, though small cracks could now be seen around the edges of the scene.

*Bill spared no time in destroying the next memory. The fallout was similar to the last with the addition of cracks that started to form in the walls of the room. Bill feared that the girl would not be able to handle the process.*
"You need to focus. If this room collapses while im doing this you'll be lost in your own mind for the foreseeable future. just keep your mind coming up with new memories as fast as you can."

[cc99ff]Leyra gave a weak nod, focusing on any memories she came across. Her renewed concentration had the added effect of sealing many of the larger cracks in the walls, and a series of memories flashed across the wall, staying visible just long enough for the man to destroy them.[/color]
