[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus led the trail, his son and daughter-in-law looking like monks following him. Suddenly his head spun.
"There's a rocket coming at us," he said. "I can feel the flame trail." He waited until the rocket was about 100 feet away before snuffing the fire that propelled the rocket, causing it to clunk harmlessly to the ground.
The rocket then exploded, bright light and concussive force hitting the group, but from too far away to cause much of an effect. Pyrodeus himself was unaffected thanks to the increased distance of the rocket from him.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis' head swiveled not long after his father, and felt the fire propelling the rocket die. The rocket still detonated, causing a bright flash and a wave of concussive force to strike him. At this range the concussive wave had minimal effect, but he was concerned about whoever had fired the rocket.[/glow]

[glow=ff00ff,1,800]Viviana noticed the rocket come over the horizon, then tumble without incident to the ground. Oh. Well that wasn't too bad, she thought to herself, before a bright flash hurt her eyes slightly before a wave of wind caused her cape to flutter.
"A little bright, but beyond the flash that wasn't too bad," she said.[/glow]

[glow=gray,50,300]The robot noticed that the rocket exploded before it was meant to. But, it wasn't that far off target. Skidding to a halt, he stood before a trio of misfits, two men, and one woman. Gyro flipped through various viewing modes, scanning the characters. The males had a very high heat signature, through thermal vision, and the woman seemed to have a rather high UV concentration around her eyes. That was odd, but not enough to spark alarm.
"Have we met before?" he inquired when he realized he'd been staring a few seconds, "I don't think we have, but I thought it would be safe to ask, just in case I might regret this later."
An arm shot out before him, and began shifting. Plates of metal rose with a hiss, and slid backward, eight small gun barrels protruding from the spots they previously covered. With the whirring of a hundred small engines, the barrels began rotating at a high velocity, centered around his arm. Within seconds, a thousand gunshots rang out, the robot firing an immense amount of slugs in the trio's direction.[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]The rate of fire leaving her no time to dodge or find cover, Viviana simply ducked into the fetal position, her back to the...thing that was firing at her, and hoped that Pyrodeus or Visignis would make some kind of magic barrier to stop it.
She felt the first few rounds pelt her, and the pain on impact was considerable, likely to leave very deep bruises. However, she noticed a cacophony of pings, and soon noticed that not a single bullet had penetrated her cloak. Whatever Pyrodeus had made it out of, while not rigid enough to deflect the bullets outright, was too tough to be penetrated by them.
Viviana would be sore in the morning, no doubt about that. But she would also live to see the sun rise.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis knelt down, shrinking his surface area as much as he was able. He formed a flame dome around himself, much as he had done against the Gargantuans, massive robots he had done battle with thousands of years ago. This thing couldn't be shooting at a higher rate of fire that two of them had, and the theory of melting the rounds worked then; it should work now.
Admitedly, these bullets were a lot harder to melt than the rubber rounds the Gargantuans had used; they had been ordered to detain Visignis, while this guy seemed to have no qualms with good old fashioned killing. Each round was only softened as opposed to completely melting, so instead of a dose of molten metal to douse him and help restore some of the energy used by the dome, each bullet still carried the stiff thwack of a paintball. Visignis shrugged off the first few dozen, but the stinging started to add up. They weren't doing a lot of damage, but they did hurt.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus took several slugs, bright orange blood oozing from the wounds. He staggered back and dropped to one knee before his wings covered the front of him. They, too, were pounded with bullets until Pyrodeus used the same trick he had with Viviana's cloak.
Against a backdrop of pure fire, it wasn't difficult at all to create silksteel mail for his wings much more quickly than purely conjuring it out of thin air, as he had with Viviana's cloak. Within seconds both of his wings were sheathed in a sleeve of red silksteel. The strength of his own wings coupled with the protection the silksteel offered made Pyrodeus' wing cocoon an excellent defense against Gyro's bullets.[/glow]

[glow=gray,50,300]The gunshots ceased, rotating barrels hissing smoke as they sank back into the arm. "Well," came the mechanical conclusion, "I guess that wasn't very effective. Looks like I'll have to try another method." Without much regard for his current situation, Gyro began pacing back and forth, metallic clangs ringing out as a sharp finger tapped repeatedly against what could be considered a chin. He began mumbling, key words popping up now and then, like fire, and plasma, and lasers. It seemed almost as though he was cycling through his options of weaponry. Though, he did seem rather oblivious to the three people who probably didn't like being shot at.[/glow]

[glow=purple,1,800]Viviana moaned in agony. Her head was spinning, she ached everywhere, but at least the sound of gunshots had stopped. At least she thought so - the ringing in her head seemed to be only ringing at this point.
"Holy shit, that hurt," she managed to mutter, staggering to her feet only to sway, fall back to her knees, and eventually down on all fours. She looked at her arms, covered in dark purple blotches. She was obviously badly bruised, that much she knew, but that much bruising would come with enough blood loss to at least weaken her, though probably not enough to be a serious threat to longevity.
She rested one hand on her stomach as she held herself up with the other, breathing heavily as she rose to her feet, swayed a bit, then stayed there, if a bit precariously.
"Note to self, find a way to put braces into this thing," she said, turning to face her attacker, who now seemed lost in thought. Viviana wanted nothing more that to cave his face in, but she wasn't sure she had it in her at this point.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,500]Pyrodeus heard the gun whirr to a halt, and felt the assault on his wings stop. He opened them a crack, and peeked out from between them to see the android pacing and muttering to itself.
Pyrodeus remained cautious, his gaze never leaving the creature, not entirely convinced of its mental stability. Granted, it might not know just what it was facing off against, but in its defense neither did he and the others. But regardless of where the advantage truly sat, it had to know there were three of them, and it didn't even seem to care.
Pyrodeus puzzled over this in silence. Had it maybe gotten bored with them? Now that they weren't entertaining to it anymore, would it just leave? Doubtful, to be sure, but Pyrodeus would not be the one to attack it and give it a reason to start fighting again. He simply observed for the moment, silently hoping it would just leave so he could help Viviana. The cloak had done its job, saving her life, but the impact from the rounds had clearly beaten the hell out of her.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis' dome faded as he watched the creature stop shooting, and suddenly begin to ramble insanely. He looked at Viviana, who appeared to be a strong breeze away from falling over, and Pyrodeus, who was simply watching the creature pace and mumble. Viviana admittedly looked like attacking was a bit beyond her until she gathered herself, but Pyrodeus seemed mostly unscathed, and perfectly content to let this thing's assault go unanswered.
Screw that, Visignis thought to himself, drawing a revolver as he stood. He flicked the switch to his armor-piercing rounds, took aim at the creature, and fired.[/glow]

[glow=gray,50,300]PING! The round collided with the robot's chin, bouncing off, and soaring upward until inertia ran out, and brought it back down at Gyro's feet. The force of the shot made his head looks upward, an action that was played in reverse, very slowly. Were his face not metal, the guy holding the gun would have been able to see the rage in the luminous eyes. "That wasn't very nice, sonny," he growled, "I mean, how would you feel if I just shot you in the face?" Suddenly, his right arm began whirring to life, plates shifting, and exhausts venting. In the end, the arm, from the elbow, to the hand, was a massive, metal hammer, square face on one end, and pointed, curved barb on the other.
"I suppose I'll just have to pound a little respect into you." With that, he lunged at the gunman, bringing the heavy hammer-hand downward, toward the crown of his head.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis glared at the robot as it lamented being shot at. He felt explaining the irony of that complaint would be lost on his assailant, and settled on simply placing his face into the palm of his burning hand.
He then heard the mechanical sounds of Gyro's arm becoming a massive hammer, and saw it close the distance between itself and Visignis in a single leap, preparing to bring the hammer down on his head.
The creature's speed was impressive, and Visignis scarcely dodged the blow in time, moving to the right. His left arm suffered a handful of shallow scratches, as well as one deeper one from shoulder to wrist, as payment for his lack of reflexes.
As the hammer crashed down where Visignis had once stood, his momentum still carrying him away from Gyro, he extended his fiery fist toward the machine's face in an attempt at a right cross.[/glow]

[glow=gray,50,300]The robot's head moved slightly, bobbling from the impact of the punch as Gyro stumbled to the right, digging a small trench in the ground as the pulled the hammer along. A small scuff was left on his cheek, a black scorch mark. But, that was all, a mere cosmetic marring. Still, it only managed to force more anger out of the living machine. As soon as he regained his stability, he lifted the hammer above his head, bringing it downward on the enemy again. This time, however, he followed with a jab from the other hand, aimed at the gut, in an attempt to stun.[/glow]

[glow=orange,1,600]Visignis saw the hammer coming down on him, and quadrupled the size of his hand in an attempt to catch it.
He didn't notice the jab to the gut, which caught him off guard and caused him to flinch. When the hammer came down, his hand did manage to hold against it, but his body, no longer prepared for the impact, crumpled.
Brought down to one knee and hunched over, Visignis' hand managed to stop the hammer from crushing him. But he was largely unable to do anything but avoid being crushed.[/glow]
