Taelyrn's eyes snapped open moments before he heard the knocking on the Forge doors. He'd been meditating, trying as he had for the past week to find some trace of the girl. However, just before the knocking had started, he'd finally sensed her, and close.
Standing from the lotus position, Taelyrn walked swiftly to the doors, waving them open as he approached. He couldn't help but grin as he saw the girl, but his grin faded quickly as he noted the grey-garbed man that had presumably escorted her.
Walking out, Taelyrn gave the man little notice, and carefully approached the girl. He didn't know how far-reaching her memory loss was. For all he knew, she had no idea who he was. Stopping a few feet away, Taelyrn hesitated for a moment before extending a hand.

Leyra squinted as she came through the portal, the midday sun a sharp contrast to the fluorescent lighting of the cell she'd been in. She heard her escort sigh, and her eyes adjusted in time for her to watch him knock on the side of a mountain.
Well, not a mountain, really. The smoke climbing lazily from the peak indicated it was a volcano. And the place where he'd knocked actually seemed to be carved into a massive set of doors. But still. He was knocking on a carving of doors set into the side of a volcano.
And then they opened. As the stone doors opened outwards, the sound of stone grinding against stone filled the air, and her heart leaped into her chest as she saw the one who'd opened the doors. Her bright one (Taelyrn, she corrected) was here, and in this strange-yet-familiar place, the sight of him was a great comfort.
But he was hesitant. He walked carefully, as though he was scared, or unsure. He came to a stop a few feet away, and held out his hand as though they were meeting for the first time. He doesn't think I remember, then...
On a sudden impulse, Leyra stepped forward, shoving his hand aside before pulling him into a tight hug. "Relax, Taelyrn...I remember you."

To say the Angel of Light was surprised was an understatement. He remembered a mute, confused, scared young girl from the brief time she'd been conscious. The girl from his memories was a far cry from the woman who hugged him now.
He laughed as she spoke, returning the embrace. "That's a bigger relief than I think you'd believe. But how do you know my name? We were never actually introduced, were we?"

Leyra smiled at the sound of his laugh, pulling back from the hug after he returned it. "Not that I remember, but...this is gonna sound weird, but I feel like someone told me? Everything's a little jumbled...and it's Leyra, by the way."
Realizing the officer might have been listening, Leyra glanced around the plateau. Nothing too private had been said, but she never liked feeling like she was being listened in on. As she looked around, she spotted him standing by the doors, where he'd been after Taelyrn had walked out.

[glow=gray,2,500]As Leyra glanced around, Taelyrn sighed when he realized the man was still standing by the doors to the Forge. After the debacle on Haven, even the thought of the IDPD had him clenching his fists. Needless to say, he tried to avoid thinking of them whenever possible.
"I should probably try and get a hold of the others, the sooner we finish what we started, the better."
He'd started to walk towards the Forge, but stopped and turned to face Leyra again. "Leyra? Come on, I'll give you the tour."[/glow]

Leyra walked after Taelyrn, hearing him trail off, and guessed he was thinking out loud. "Can I ask what's going on while you do? I know you were doing something to try and save me, and I know that you were interrupted, but He wasn't too clear on the details."
Accepting Taelyrn's invitation, Leyra and Taelyrn strode into the Forge.

Taelyrn chuckled, waving his hand to close the doors as they walked inside. Remember the officer on the plateau, however, Taelyrn willed the doors back open. He didn't like it, but the last thing he needed was to piss off the IDPD just after they'd returned Leyra. "Yeah, He does that. When they say He works in mysterious ways, they mean it."
Leaning against the table, Taelyrn gestured around the Forge. "This is Pyrodeus' Forge, easily one of the safest places on this planet. Those doors are magically sealed, and can only be opened by 4 people that I know of, 5 if we count you."
"This is where I brought you after you were hurt. We were..." Taelyrn hesitated, not sure how to explain that they'd been stripping away her powers and humanity to replace them with darkness and immortality.
He sighed, deciding to come at it from a different angle. "A long time ago, God created 8 Angels, each gifted with control over some aspect of the world. They were called Warrior Angels. In time, 6 of those were killed, leaving Pyrodeus, the Angel of Fire, and Cryodivus, the Angel of Ice. That was a little over 8,000 years ago."
"Now, a few months ago, someone created another Warrior Angel, one with power over Darkness. However, this angel went rogue, and began to plot against God. Eventually, he was taken down by Cryodivus, but, as all Warrior Angels do, his power remained, in his weapons and a powerful magical item called a Seal."
"Now, shortly after the Angel of Darkness fell, I died. I gave my life to stop a powerful evil from destroying the world, and for that sacrifice, God offered me another life, one to balance out the power of the Angel of Darkness. So, I was returned as the Angel of Light."
Standing straight, Taelyrn let his wings spread out, partly to stretch, and partly in a display to tie in with his explanation. "Making sense so far?"

Leyra listened intently to Taelyrn's story, some part of her sensing that he'd left some parts out, but she guessed he was summarizing. Still, he hadn't explained what they'd been doing to her, and though she had some guesses about the voice in her head from before, she felt that Taelyrn knew the truth behind it.
"It makes about as much sense as it could, I guess. But where do I come in? And what about the IDPD?"

Taelyrn's wings dropped back beneath his cloak, and he nodded, but kept his eyes cast downward, avoiding eye contact.
His voice quiet, barely audible over the constant rumbling of the volcano around thi]em, he finished. "You were dying...and we were using the Seal of Darkness to bring you back. The IDPD interrupted us before we could finish, but enough of the Seal's power bonded with you to allow us...allow me...to find you."
"That voice, the one that told you my name? That was God. He showed us that you were meant to be the next Warrior Angel of Darkness. So, we went to Haven, tried to fight our way to where they were keeping you, but they were more prepared than we realized. We finally became enough of an annoyance for them to strike a deal, and we accepted. We left, and now they've kept up their end by giving you back to us."
Slowly looking up, bright blue eyes meeting Leyra's own brown-black ones, Taelyrn swallowed hard. "So...now you're here. But you're alive and well, and you have a choice to make. You can stay as you are, if you like. We started the process to save your life, and you're no longer in need of saving. Or..." Taelyrn trailed off, unsure how to finish his sentence.

Leyra listened, biting her lip as she did, as Taelyrn explained the rest. She remembered parts, brief snatches of conversation that her unconscious mind had picked up. And the power from the Seal explained the change to her mental cell from rough stone to polished black marble. And God speaking to her made as much sense as anything else.
But when he looked at her, some kind of fear plain in his eyes and his voice, Leyra bit her lip a little harder, his fear triggering some of the same in her. "Or what? What happens if I choose to finish it?"

Taelyrn nodded as she asked for the alternative, his breath shaky as he answered. "Or, I can send a summons to Pyrodeus and Cryodivus. They'll come here, and we'll use the Seal and our own powers to complete the process."
"You'll become the Angel of Darkness, my counterpart, my opposite. You'd never have to worry about getting sick, or dying of old age."

Leyra was confused, and a little afraid. He was offering her immortality, but as he'd spoken, Leyra figured out that he was afraid of her decision. He seemed to fear that she'd decline, and as he mentioned the immortality, she could guess why.
However, he also seemed afraid of her accepting the offer. There had to be something else, something he wasn't saying. "Why are you afraid that I'll accept? It sounds like a good thing, but you're afraid of something...what is it?"

After he'd given her the second option, Taelyrn had taken to pacing around the table. As she questioned him about his fear, however, he stopped, facing her across the large stone surface. His throat suddenly dry, Taelyrn cleared his throat.
"Tresdos, the last Angel of Darkness...he wasn't a good guy. He set himself up to take on God Himself. He was a horror on the battlefield, and a sadist besides. And when he died, part of that was taken into the Seal."
"If you choose to finish the process, then you take into yourself everything that makes up the Angel of Darkness. And that means taking a bit of Tresdos, too. A part of him would become part of you, and stay a part of you for the rest of your life."
Standing across the table from her, Taelyrn gave her a moment for the truth to sink in. She needed to know before she decided, he knew, but that fact didn't make it any easier to say.
"It's your choice, Leyra. The others probably thought I'd send for them the moment you arrived, so we could finish what we started. But you don't have to go through with this if you don't want to."

Leyra had pulled up a stool to the table, and she was glad for the seat as Taelyrn finished the explanation. She guessed it was the price of immortality, and for a moment, she honestly wondered whether it was worth it.
She was alive, and safe, and Taelyrn had proven that he was willing and able to protect her. Looking at the worry on his face, she didn't doubt he'd continue to protect her if she asked. But part of her saw that worry, and imagined seeing it, year after year, that look on his young, unchanging face as she grew older, and older, and older still. The thought terrified her.
So then, was losing a part of herself worth immortality? By itself, the answer was no. But...if there was a chance that immortality meant time with him? With her bright one?
"I want...I want you to do it. Finish this...process." As Taelyrn opened his mouth again, Leyra held up a hand. "I know. But you said this is my choice, and I've made it."
"I want to become the Warrior Angel of Darkness."
